> 3 dayI got his for my son who is in the 2nd grade. Part of his homework is looking up definitions every day. You dont need a magnified glass to read this, and it makes it more fun as it has some pictures in it. My son loves it!

> 3 dayI bought this for my 8 year old. The high school dictionary we had was too overwhelming for her. This is a wonderful first dictionary for elementary kids! The writing isn’t quite as small as the high school version, there are pictures for some entries, the definitions seem a little more simple, and each letter is color coded on the edge, which makes it a little easier to find say words that start with “L”.

> 3 dayTruth be told, I actually ordered this dictionary for my grandson due to a one star review from someone who disliked it because there was no reference to a homosexual lifestyle or the alphabet soup lifestyle. Now before you go and flame me with the typical progressive name calling that we have all come to expect, I am a small business owner and I have 2 homosexuals, one female and one male, that work for me. They are respected because they are good people. SO lets take this one step further. The one star reviewer makes no mention that there is also no entry in this dictionary for heterosexual either. A typical move of the progressive indoctrination crowd. Here is a wonderful dictionary that lets children be children. As children age, they can discover and explore in their own appropriate time the vagaries of our age.

> 3 dayMy 3rd grade granddaughter reads well above the expected level, but when I asked her what she does when she does not know what a word means, she shrugged and gave me a look like what are you talking about? I know that she does not know words that she reads when she mispronounces them. She has limited access to screen time and has no phone, so she needs a non-digital helper. So this is what I bought for her. She may think its a weird gift now, but she uses it, shell be smarter for it.

> 3 dayThis dictionary is very comprehensive, easy to navigate and very sturdy. Many of the pages have illustrations which help kids to visualize the meaning of the word as well. I would definitely recommend it.

Greater than one weekI got this as a tool for my children to use in case/when the digital world fails. They might not always have access to technology and the way things are going now, everything is on the verge of collapse. Kids need to know how to do math, write in cursive, and look up words in the dictionary. This is a beautiful dictionary for kids! Its big, lots of words and pictures. My children sat and looked through the pages. They were quite captivated by the dictionary, the word history captions, and the root word explanations. Its very colorful, but not too much...just the right amount for 4th - 6th graders. It arrived in perfect condition!

> 3 dayPerfect reference tool. My 9 year old son loves looking up words in it and understands how to use it almost intuitively. There are synonyms, cross references, tons of pictures and it’s very easy for him to find the word he’s looking for using the guide words and color coded letters. In a lot of cases the definition is used in a sentence and there are parts of speech provided for each word that are clear and easy for kids to understand. He also uses it to help him pronounce words. Just a great tool all around.

> 3 dayGreat gift for an elementary student. Learning from home is a challenge and does it work equally for all kids. My friends nine year old was struggling with her vocabulary. Did a little research and thought this might do the trick. It’s working well for her daughter and she enjoys using it to learn new words.
