Micro Swiss All Metal Hotend with Slotted Cooling Block for Wanhao i3 w/.4mm Nozzle

My stock hotend was having horrible heat creep and underextrusion problems. Also the filament would not adhere to the bed properly. Installing this hotend seems to have fixed all my issues. I am able to print at 80-100mm/s with the Zbrace mod and prints stick to the bed much better.

very cool product, easy to install and has helped produce much better prints. This should be the first mod to any printer.

I dont know if its because of this but Since i bought it and replaced with the old one, extruders motor gets extremely hot

Not happy that I spent this much money and had to put the old head back so I could actually print again. The nozzle arrived with a nice nick right where the hole is and after messing with this thing 20-30 times the heatbreak snapped in half. I know, you think I over tightened it but I can assure you it was metal fatigue. I bought a $10.00 no name heatbreak, threw away the crappy nozzle and now Im printing nice quality products again.

I had to replace my hotend after melting my last one that came with my monoprice select clone, and this thing is great. Have had no hotend clogs since upgrading and would definately recommend making this upgrade if you can.

I gave this item a 5 star for overall quality and for ease of installation and 3 stars for value for the money. I couldn’t get it to work right to save my life. I watched just about every YouTube video on how to install it and use it, etc. but personally have had no luck. I finally gave up and returned it for a refund. I was really hoping to get away from my hot end which uses the plastic tube as a heat break. Oh well, maybe you will have better luck with it than I did.

All I can say is that this is the best upgrade I have made to my 3D printer. Besides the ability to print more exotic filaments that require a temperature above what the stock hotend can provide, the print quality on my printer has greatly improved. Following the instructions as provided on the Micro Swiss website, the installation of this hotend took me about 15-20 minutes and was rather easy to perform. By looking at the negative reviews of this hotend, I can tell that those reviews are the people that have not followed those instructions resulting is clogs and misprints. However, if you follow those instructions, this will be the best $50 you will spend for your printer.

I did not expect much when I order Micro Swiss, especially after reading so many complains in forums when peoples Wanhao i3 with plastic leaks, clicking, jamming stories. I was a little bit scared. However, the original extruder finally starting to mess up my PETG prints big time, I knew that it is time to move on. To my surprise, the installation went smoothly. Very little efforts needed if you follow Wanhaos YouTube disassembly video. After that I screw the nozzle in, backwards 1/2 rotation and install the block. 10 min later I am ready to print. The first print, I use 10mm/s speed. Then in the next project, I use 20mm/s, and then 30mm/s and then 35mm/s on PETG and all of them are successful prints. No more wasting plastics and the model came out much more strong than the original extruder! I do not understand how it is possible but it just does! Do not hesitate if you want to print PETG, it works great!
