I received this item as a gift and was super excited. Upon opening it though (and I could tell from the outside of the box), it seemed previously opened and several pastels are missing. On top of that, the wrappers are all messy and theres color everywhere. Disappointed :/

These Korean pastels are very, very worth it for the money. Nice color payoff and soft. I would want to purchase the 72 color set without the wooden box. I use these for drawing landscapes.

Very disappointing when I received the package to find only 10 pastels included in the box of 48

I bought it since I was into oil pastels, but didnt want to break bank. I heard reviews were pretty good about it, so I purchased a set. They mix very well together if you press hard with a pastel thats somewhere between the darker and lighter colors youre mixing together. Super smudge-y so be careful. Soft as advertised. The only qualms i had was two pastels had nicks on them or probably broke off during transport, but overall they were intact, well packaged. These are fun to play with, so I do recommend for just trying out the set if you will like oil pastels ^^

This brand has felt like the best of both worlds for me as a beginner with oil pastels. Every positive review Ive read here has been spot on so far for me. I had started out with some basic Pentel oil pastels, which arent too bad if you use them with pastel paper. Id almost say that having some paper with a bit of tooth to it is more important for learning oil pastels because its nearly impossible to blend colors without the right kind of paper. Having said that, when I tried these out, I immediately noticed the difference as it was much easier to blend colors and to add depth to my landscapes by blending colors on top of each other. I picked up some white Sennelier pastels because Id used up the white in this set while practicing clouds, and I noticed that the more expensive Sennelier is quite creamy and soft, which is hard for a beginner to work with if you want to get a handle on blending and more detailed work. While I hope to eventually use Sennelier pastels, this brand has been the perfect middle ground for me as I learn some basic techniques and get a handle on working with pastels. I cant recommend these highly enough.

The colors are beautiful, although the purple is what we would refer to as magenta, instead. I do not have previous experience with oil pastels, but do use professional soft pastels and am familiar with professional oils and acrylics, and can point out a few important details. There is no doubt these pastels are a good value for adult students. I say adult, because they are not labeled non-toxic. Based on the price of the product, I seriously doubt there is any cobalt in the cobalt blue stick, or any cadmium or other costly pigment, and I have not yet found any references online to the actual pigments used in these sticks. Mungyo claims they are professional, and lightfast, but there is no knowing whether they can be considered archival. Still, I think the set deserves 4 stars, rather than 3, for being an inexpensive way to find out whether I will be interested in using oil pastels.

These pastels are amazing for the price. I got the set of 48 and would definitely buy again, probably the 60 or 72 count though, because I would want more color variety. They are very creamy and apply smoothly, and blending them with tortillions worked really well. Very happy!

I just really like these oil pastels. When I decided I wanted to try OP, I did a little research. I didnt want to pay a fortune but I didnt want to get the lowest grade product either. I cant remember who initially recommended Mungyo, but Im so glad I ordered them. Im an amateur. I like drawing and use whatever suits my fancy at that moment. Ive used graphite, colored pencils, alcohol markers, and now oil pastels. These go on smooth, they blend well, I enjoy using them. I cant compare these to professional grade OP having never used the really expensive ones, but I do recommend these.
