I recently had my home wired and wanted an easy way to manage things. This was easy to setup and gets the job done.

If you need an 8-port unmanaged switch that is a dead simple easy set it and forget it device, heres your model. Runs silent, no fan. Has two mounting slots on the bottom of the case that can be used to assist in securing it, if desired.

Addendum to original review. Horrible product and horrible customer service. Less than 8 months old and 3 ports go dead. Took days to reach customer support. Claimed only 90 day technical support and wanted me to purchase a plan to get help. I explained it’s a plug and play unmanaged switched so there is nothing to trouble shoot and that I wanted the product replaced under the 3 year warranty which she explained was only a one year warranty (even though description on amazon and box says 3 years). The cost of shipping and replacing was the cost of buying a new one. Never again will I purchase a Netgear product. STAY AWAY!

This is a compact, solid, metal-cased unmanaged switch. It replaced a cheaper plastic TrendNet switch in my home network. As an admittedly unscientific test, I copied a large .iso file between my FreeNAS and Windows desktop and the transfer speed hovered between 90-94MBytes/second (roughly 736Mbps) effective throughput. My only wishes : It would be nice if the power supply was embedded in the chassis, and barring that, that the wall-wort p/s was muliti-voltage (it is not speced for 220VAC). Happy with this purchase.

Nice metal housing, case and wall-wart run cool to the touch. Verified 1gbps throughput.

Needed to add additional equipment to my studio so I bought this switch based on the recommendation of a trusty I.T. friend who assured me this device is as plug & play as it gets, & thats 100% my finding.

I have had one of the last 3 versions of this and this one is exactly what I expect from netgear quality. No issues and good price
