Greater than one weekoh I love these switches. I have Cat 7 cabling running around my house and the Gigiabit Ethernet switch worked well. I have 2 of them in the house (upstairs and downstairs) and the switches have been working flawlessly.

> 3 dayThe Netgear 8-Port switch worked well in a home application. No issues to report. Probably would not use for a commercial application.

03-06-2025I was really surprised at the difference in down load speed when I switched from my old switch to this Gig switch. It made me up date my other computer hardware.

08-06-2025Runs cool, no dropped connections. Im using this at a small workbench with multiple towers connected 24/7, and I frequently hook machines I am servicing to the open ports throughout the day.I have yet to have a machine not be detected, unlike my experience with an older 5 port version of this same switch.

08-06-2025Not much to say except I took it out of the box, plugged it in and it works as it should. With the current $25 rebate, this is one great deal for a gigabit switch. Unit runs cool (unlike other reviews) and I like the color coded numbers for speed - nice touch. I like it so much I bought another one so I got two for the price of one which in this day and age is a real plus. I dont think you can go wrong with this switch based upon my experience.

> 3 dayThis is a simple plug and play type unit. Love that there is no programming. But, the directions have it wrong when it comes to attaching it to a WIFI unit....connect the Ethernet input to the Negear FIRST, attach all your direct access devices to it and run separate line to the WIFI unit...otherwise, the WIFI will cause the frame rate to degrade if several WIFI devices accessing it...if you have a direct computer connection, make sure you have a good firewall and virus protection...programmable WIFI only add extra layer of protection...

> 3 dayNetgear tends to make a fairly decent product for the price, but the GS608v2 is flawed. Random ports on the switch will infrequently negotiate 1000Mbit speed and will fall back to 100 after about 3 min without a link. Other ports work just fine at 1000Mbit, but you will have to experiement to find the ones that do work. On top of that, some network devices will not negotiate at all including two 100Mbit laptop network cards, one 3com and one xircom which are very solid, reliable devices in any other situation, but do not work with this switch. Other users complain of overheating issues or freezing issues that require a power cycle, or even complete failure after about a month, but I have only had mine a few days so those problems havent come up yet. Go with any other 8 port gigabit model. This one is not worth the hassle. I can only hope netgear will allow me to RMA this item for some other model.

> 3 dayI like having the RJ45 in the back and lights in the front. Easy to install. My 10/100 switch still works great after 10 years. I had too many fast ether switches in line, three. 300 mps in yielded 20 mps at the end. Putting All Gig switches has only lost 30 percent in throughput. Now my studio has 150(+) mps.
