> 3 dayI have several switches like this throughout the house. They work really well and seem to be well made. I also have the 8 port metal switch which is sturdier but will get warmer than this. The switch comes with a power adapter and a couple of stands that clamp on and will allow you to install it vertically. The stand will do their job but dont expect much in terms of stability. The best time to get this switch is when Netgear has a rebate for it and they seem to have rebates all the time. At that time it can be found for as low as $20-30. Highly recommended product for the money.

> 3 dayPurchased this from Amazon in December 2006. At the time, I paid a only few dollars more than the current Amazon price. It also had a rebate then. This unit has served me well for 6+ years, running 24 X 7 without so much as a hiccup. A couple of days ago, it started to act up. After determining the unit gave up the ghost, I ordered another from Amazon. Im looking forward to another 6 trouble free years.

> 3 dayOurs works fine but some of the ports have gone dead. After about 2 years of use. Also I am starting to see connection issues on some devices and I am unsure if it is this switch or the device or the cable. So... I duno

05-06-2025I have always liked Netgear products and have never had any issue with them. I currently have 2 five port switches running in my office but needed one for our new finished basement so I could run all my devices over wired ethernet rather than through wireless. I have the switch sitting in a tv cabinet and it works great. It looks good, works well, doesnt get hot, and does what I need it to do. The price is good for an 8 port switch that runs at gigabit speed. I also like that non used ports do not consume power when not in use. Right now I am running an Apple TV, cable box, Xbox, and PS3 through the switch and it works as expected. I highly recommend Netgear products and especially their non-managed switches.

> 3 day.. it seems like Netgear has traded quality/design with TP-Link. This thing works fine as a switch (the point), but I dont know why they went to this dumb white pretty design, away from what TP-Links switches look like now (Netgears old, plain, square, functional design). I bought some of these for my clients who specifically want something like this, where it has the activity indicator on the opposite side of switch from the RJ-45.

Greater than one weekI have several of these Netgear switches. I prefer Ethernet to Wi-Fi in my home network. This switch provides an easy, inexpensive option to add more (up to 7) Ethernet ports to your home network. Simply plug it in and attach your Ethernet cable(s). I particularly like that the Ethernet cables attach behind the unit. Lights on the front panel indicate connection and activity status.

Greater than one weekI have several of the 8 and 5 port versions and they work very well. I use them to connect several 10/100 IP cameras to a single GB conection to a GB wireless router port.

> 3 dayReplaced a pair of 8 port Linksys switches with a pair of netgear switches. They seem to be working fine; I would recommend them.

> 3 dayThis switch is just a bit more expensive than the same switch with less ports. Works as advertised and super easy to setup.

> 3 dayNot much to say except I took it out of the box, plugged it in and it works as it should. With the current $25 rebate, this is one great deal for a gigabit switch. Unit runs cool (unlike other reviews) and I like the color coded numbers for speed - nice touch. I like it so much I bought another one so I got two for the price of one which in this day and age is a real plus. I dont think you can go wrong with this switch based upon my experience.
