Greater than one week.. it seems like Netgear has traded quality/design with TP-Link. This thing works fine as a switch (the point), but I dont know why they went to this dumb white pretty design, away from what TP-Links switches look like now (Netgears old, plain, square, functional design). I bought some of these for my clients who specifically want something like this, where it has the activity indicator on the opposite side of switch from the RJ-45.

Greater than one weekI have purchased several of these switches and they work flawlessly in a relatively hot environment. I have a wire room which is not air conditioned with three of them mounted vertically. They give near wire speed performance with no defective ports. Remember that these switches are not manage-able with SNMP.

> 3 dayI own a lot of NetGear equipment and I have had no issues with the quality of the devices. This switch looks great and it stacks right under my NetGear wireless router I have another computer in the basement also connected to a NetGear 1Gb 8 port switch in addition to a NetGear NV+ NAS. All were great prices, look great, and work great.

> 3 dayI have not thought about this switch since I have installed it. It just works. Heres to all hardware being this easy to work with. Thank you, NetGear!

> 3 dayRuns cool, no dropped connections. Im using this at a small workbench with multiple towers connected 24/7, and I frequently hook machines I am servicing to the open ports throughout the day.I have yet to have a machine not be detected, unlike my experience with an older 5 port version of this same switch.

> 3 dayFirst thing: Its a switch so there is no effort to set one up. Step one open box, step two plug in Ethernet cables, step three plug in power. Boom you are done. This is perhaps the easiest setup for PC beginners. This device seems sturdy enough in the first few months and its small enough to mount or slide under the TV.

07-06-2025I have several switches like this throughout the house. They work really well and seem to be well made. I also have the 8 port metal switch which is sturdier but will get warmer than this. The switch comes with a power adapter and a couple of stands that clamp on and will allow you to install it vertically. The stand will do their job but dont expect much in terms of stability. The best time to get this switch is when Netgear has a rebate for it and they seem to have rebates all the time. At that time it can be found for as low as $20-30. Highly recommended product for the money.
