> 3 dayNot much to say except I took it out of the box, plugged it in and it works as it should. With the current $25 rebate, this is one great deal for a gigabit switch. Unit runs cool (unlike other reviews) and I like the color coded numbers for speed - nice touch. I like it so much I bought another one so I got two for the price of one which in this day and age is a real plus. I dont think you can go wrong with this switch based upon my experience.

06-06-2025Ive had one of these that worked fine for two years and recently just after the warranty expired it started freezing intermittently on all ports. All the traffic indicators go out leaving just the power indicator on. Only way to reboot is to remove power and all the network cables.- either alone will not restart it. Getting sick of this so its going to trash bin.

Greater than one weekThis is a nicely priced switch, with great looks and performance. I have a white Synology NAS box and white Apple Router sitting with it, so it matches the décor nicely. I have the NAS box connected to it, which is the highest volume device going through it, and have not suffered a bit of performance reduction. I have it standing vertically using the included stand (feet may be a better word), but it does have rubber feet built into the bottom of the for horizontal orientation. The LED lights for each port change color to indicate the speed the device is connecting at, and there is a front power light as well. The unit runs very cool, despite the plastic case and passive cooling. I have a small gripe with this router, but it is not enough to deduct from the rating. The unit is very light, being that its made of plastic, and this allows it to be moved by the heavier (and in some cases stiff) cables plugged into its ports. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. I have the 8 port version and still have 4 ports left, so I expect to have this switch for years to come!

Greater than one weekI bought this in April of 2009, at the time I was happy with the performance. I havent been regularly monitoring its performance. Nov of 2011 I noticed that a wireless access point connected to this switch was having performance issue, but I chalked it to the wireless switch. This unit itself, after a power cycle, seemed OK. But now, Aug of 2012, I noticed that a PC connected to this unit was having network speed issues, it was only getting 1MB/s from my NAS. While another PC connected to a different switch on the same network was getting 40MB/s from the same NAS. This unit feels really hot to the hand. I wonder if this is the same over-heating issue that others have mentioned. I guess 3 years is not bad, but given that it started going bad probably last Nov, after 2.5 years, and all my other network equipment, including router, wireless bridge/access point, and a 5 port desktop switch, all 10/100/1000, are all working flawlessly, this seems a little disappointing.

> 3 dayNo frills, standard non managed switch with 8 gigabit ports. Lasted me 5 years then suddenly died. Considering how much work I put it through I felt that was satisfactory. Hard to diagnose as it still seemed to indicate it was ok. Performed well for the price for a very long time.

Greater than one weekThis is a GREAT switch. One of the best features is that if the power goes out, you dont have to reboot everything in a certain order. This has been a huge blessing.

> 3 dayI should have known better than to try a $15 GigE switch. It was terrible and I returned it after 1 night. First, it feels cheap. Second, who puts a freaking power switch on a network switch? Ive never in 30 years desired to turn off a switch. Third, it took my network offline 4 times the first night it was installed. I woke up to a slew of service down notifications in my inbox from my NAS. Do yourself a favor and buy a real switch, not this toy.
