Nintendo NFC Reader/Writer Accessory - Nintendo 3DS

I purchased this item for my 16 year old son he was very happy

All three of my kids have a Nintendo 3DS XL, primarily due to trickle-down or saving up their allowance money for several months. But my youngests doesnt have the NFC reader and, of course, the sibling jealousy has kicked in on more than one occasion. I didnt even know that these separate NFC readers existed until I got an e-mail from one of those one-sale-a day sites. For the price, I jumped on this opportunity. Even though the instructions are completely in Japanese, its simple enough to figure out: point the RF transmitter to the back of the 3DS, turn it on, put on the Amiibo, and thats it! My youngest was THRILLED when it worked without a hitch. She wouldnt shut up about it all day, and - luckily for her - she also threw thank you, dad out there a few times. If you dont have the New Nintendo 3DS XL but you want Amiibo functionality, this is a much better alternative than shelling out for an entirely new 3DS XL.

Very useful for people like me that do not see a good enough reason to buy a New 3DS.

It came very fast and well packaged. This item is very useful if you want to have NFC on your old Nintendo device. It works fast and batteries last for a long time.

I bought the NFC Reader/Writer mainly for using the Amiibo Cards in Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer. I wasnt really sure what to expect from it and actually was a little skeptical at first. New gadgets often bring that out in me anyway. The actual product is shaped like a small hockey puck, is fairly small and light weight. Despite its size and weight the actual unit feels well made and quite sturdy. By sturdy I mean it could probably live through some minor bumps and fumbles from your kiddo accidentally dropping it on the table from a short distance or even rolling across the table onto the carpeted floor (which all occurred courtesy of my 7-year old). The unit runs off of 2 AA Batteries which are included. The BEST thing is that the batteries are super easy to install - I didnt need to find a tiny screwdriver to loosen tiny screws to reach the battery door! Nope - I could just pop that thing open and get on with the gaming. I dont have any kids younger than 7 here so access to the batteries is not an issue in my household, but may be something to think about if you do. Syncing it to my 3DS was easy, like seriously push button easy and go. So far I have not had any issues with the unit and it has taken minor hits and falls to boot. The size is great because it easily fits in my sons 3DS Carrier with his handheld, cord and some games without issue. Bonus is that he can easily use it himself, it turns itself off after 5 mins of inactivity in case he forgets so no battery drainage, I dont feel like I need to guard the thing because it feels well made for the most part and he doesnt get frustrated and wants to play with it.

Works as intended and arrived as it should have. My niece loves it, she can use Amiibo on her Nintendo 3ds now.

NFC for the 3DS readers are getting harder and harder to find for those that have the old 3DS. If you are considering getting this, I would go ahead and purchase it before the price goes up even further. I purchased mine used and it works perfectly.

Now we can have all of our favorite villagers in animal crossing new leaf or horizon! Works perfect!

it came relatively fast and it works great! you cant even tel it was used, there is like two marks but its no real big deal. the price wasnt too bad considering it was used and the shipper was great too!

Lately been upset that Nintendo been taking too long to these out in the US. I saw the Japan import was out and didnt feel like waiting after Nintendo said that will be ready in summer that never came out until three months later after summer is about over. So I try it out and works my US 3DS system.
