04-06-2025Used Obenauf on my hunting boots prior to a Elk hunt in New Mexico and my boots repelled snow, sleet and stream crossing like a champ. Very please with the performance of Obenauf beeswax formula.

> 3 dayOver years of my life spent in logger boots this preservative/conditioner is awesome. Learned about this product through Wranglestar professional home owner. Product applies easily and lasts a long time. If your boots are dry and neglected with a couple treatments your leather will be better than new and thats no lie. Waterproofing is flawless

Greater than one weekThis product is AWESOME!!! Seals, waterproofs, prevents leather cracking around curves such as loop fitting sheath through belt loop. I think one container could last a lifetime. GREAT PRODUCT. BEESWAX IS KEY !!!

> 3 dayI had several older purses I was selling & they needed some serious TLC. I applied this & was truly flabbergasted by the results-they looked INCREDIBLE! By far, this is the best leather conditioner I have ever used! As a reseller who often has to “rehab” leather goods, this stuff has a permanent place in my business! As you can see in my photo, the before & after on this pair of Ariat boots was impressive. Don’t hesitate to purchase this, your leather jacket, boots, couch, etc etc will thank you!

> 3 dayI like the product but it is hard to use without heating to melt the heavy paste. Also the paste does not dissolve into the boot threads very easily. I am sure it darkens the leather and waterproofs the boots. All in all it is a good product to protect your expensive boots from the elements of outdoors.

> 3 dayGreat stuff but be prepared for your leather to become a darker shade. It soaked in well and evenly. I like this stuff for my rough-em-up shoes/boots I know will be ugly with staining or not survive my work otherwise. What to do with dress shoes?? Check out the small white bottle in the picture. It’s NOT CHEAP but both the leather and fabric weee treated on the left dress shoe. No change in color. This Renaissance stuff is used for museum artifact preservation including images, leather, fabric and metal. It will even keep copper looking shiny and protect from fingertips. A little goes a long way!

> 3 dayI got this product to use on a vintage handbag. I specifically went with this one because some of the reviews mentioned it noticeable darkens leather. I was planning on using it on a black bag so that was a non-issue. After multiple coats, the bag looks great.

> 3 dayI see a lot of controversy surrounding this product so I’m going to clarify some things first. Please read the item description before purchasing. This is a heavy duty leather preservative designed for woodland firefighters. A lot of people want to jump straight to “the best” protection when it comes to boots. I’m here to say, that may not always be necessary. There are other products out there that may better suit your needs and give you better results! Bottom line, do your research. What kind of leather you have and how to care for it is most important. Now when it comes to this product, I’ve waited until the first significant snow to share my thoughts. The product works flawlessly. Water, ice, snow beads up and evaporates quickly. This product will darken your boots and give them more of a muddy, matte look. Horsehair brush will shine them up and re-destribute the wax throughout the leather. But your boots will remain darkened. Any varnish, leather aesthetics will be covered up. This includes scratches and scuffs. I’ve shared a few pictures. First one is the boot before treatment. Second picture is same boot after treating with Obenauf’s and waiting one week. Third picture are a pair of shoes I’ve treated with Obenauf’s. I used a heat gun at 200F to apply the product. This is absolutely not necessary. I also pre-treated the footwear with Obenauf’s Leather Oil a week prior before applying the wax. Again, not necessary. This is a great product but it’s not for everyone (or every shoe).

05-06-2025I use heavy rough-out leather work gloves that get dirty. Periodically, I need to wash the gloves the clean the grime off of them. But when the gloves dry, they get extremely hard and difficult to wear. I applied this balm to the hardened gloves, rubbed it in for a couple of minutes and let the gloves sit over night. The next day, they were soft and very comfortable to wear again. For my work gloves, that was all I was hoping for. But it was evident the gloves went from light gray to a much darker gray. Again, for me, these are gloves intended to work in dirty environments so darkening is of no concern. But if you have nicely made dress gloves, be aware this may darken the glove. Not sure how you can test a dress glove without committing it potential discoloration. But this will condition and soften the leather.
