> 24 hourIve been using projectors for about 15 years now. My latest was the Hd146X, I had it in a bad location and it regularly overheated and crapped out after 2 years because of my own fault. I bought the HD39HDRx as a direct replacement for it. at the time of purchase its only $30ish or so more than the 146x so I figure id try it. Things you should know, it has minimal features. Most significantly Keystone! you can ajust the keystone if the project is higher or lower than center, but if its (significantly) left or right of center DO NOT BUY THIS PROJECTOR!! There is no LEFT OR RIGHT KEYSTONE. Also if youre using it for gaming and need to use the heigh related keystone the keystone is disabled during gaming mode. Which is really weird. The Hd146x allowed for gaming mode and keystone. So basically if you cant have your projector close to center vertically and horizontally, any youre expecting to use keystone dont expect alot out of this. Its a height reletated keystone only, and it looks like a digital keystone which means it will crop the image, so youll lose imagine quality the more you keystone. If keystone is not a problem, and you can position your projector accordingly this bad boy is BRIGHT as heck! I would consider it one of the best values on the market for a bright 1080 HDR projector. If keystone isnt a issue I would not hesitate to get this thing, for budget home theater/gaming. IT IS BRIGHT!!! the brightest project ive ever owned, and should suit most peoples needs. Its even too bright at night with my screen. So the eco mode is more than bright enough for me. That means savings since the bulb will last longer. The bulb on my previous optoma projector lasted longer than the DLP chip 2+ years. So I expect its entirely possible this projectors bulb will last the estimated 4years. I would be happy with 3 though. Ive only had this projector for a few days, Ill update it if anything changes, but I really wanted to comment on the keystone situation for anyone considering this projector.

> 24 hourWorks great. Its a good upgrade from my old projector that finally gave out after 3 years of constant use. I have 2 roommates and we all constantly watch shows and movies. My last optima did great, and this one is brighter and better. Def recommend as long as standard HD is all you need not true 4k etc. This projector works great for all my personal visual needs/expectations.

> 24 hourThere is no way to switch from sound from the unit to sound thru an amplifier. I have it ceiling mounted and whenever I want to hear the units speaker I have to get the ladder, unplug the unit.

> 24 hourThis is my first projector purchase and I love it. I use it for my PS5 and the picture quality is excellent and response rate is top notch. I find this better for gaming than our high end LED TV. We currently are projecting an approximately 86 picture with the projector mounted on the ceiling, about 6 feet from the screen. Currently were using the built in speaker, and its fine. I wouldnt expect much from a projector speaker as its really meant to be paired with a surround sound system, which is currently on the way! very happy with the purchase.

> 24 hournice bright image for a living room projector with limited ambient light control. A little louder than my Epson HC3500. No lens shift. Single chip DLP. Some people see the rainbow effect when they turn their head while watching the screen, but not too many.

> 24 hourI purchased from another company, the laser version optoma hz39hdr. The good, its very bright and very quiet. The bad its so bright it hurts your eyes and has convergence issues like crazy. It was sharp in the middle and then Fuzzy on the outside. Colors are horrible. Spent days trying to make adjustments. If you are a gamer optoma does make some nice units and would recommend the bulb version of these units for that use. Just know you will go thru a bulb every 1-3 years. I personally found I watched more movies and went with the Epson 3800. Not as good for games but color and contrast are incredible for movies. In short every brand will have its pro and cons just look at what you will use it for and do your research.

> 24 hourThe optoma hd39hdr is everything I was hoping it would be. Plenty bright to be able to watch it with some ambient light in the room. Beautiful clear picture. I’m sure for $1000 more you could get a better picture but for $750 I’m extremely happy with it. The only thing I don’t like is when I open different apps( I’m projecting an Xbox I use to stream hbo, netflix, etc.) it switches to a bright blue screen for a couple seconds. Not a big deal but a black screen or nothing would be less annoying. Sometimes I’ll catch a tiny bit of rainbow strobe but very rarely and never enough to bother me. My girlfriend had never noticed any rainbows.
