Made this purchase paying a premium for a company that prides itself on Mac. I’ve built PCs, so I should be able to do a Mac SSD hard drive update. However, when I finally got my info transferred. It’s not comparable to upgrade to BIG SUR. Mac flags the drive as a incomparable third party, they had a make shift work around in the past but it doesn’t work with new IOS. Drive also gets really hot, for a MacBook Air the hard drive is right on the back case and you can feel the heat on you lap. Poor support with SSD drive. They brag on comparability and sell a premium. However, it says third party device not comparable. Wait times are hours long and tech team tried to find ways to deny providing service stringing you along to give up. AVOID THIS SELLER !! Finally, one screw did not fit on the external SSD, so I asked for a replacement and they stalled and said I they could not help, with typical excuses.

Already uninstalled from the laptop because it was giving so many problems. Apple software later than High Sierra wont allow certain things to work with this drive because of security. Never experienced anything like this. Customer became irate rightfully so because they lost most of their information

Fast and smooth like butta. Speeds up the system from your old 256 gig one.

I love it. Of course, I know my purchase is too late for the model of MBPr. An 1 TB of SSD is enough for normal purpose of the machine, especially for me, and the performance is good.

Works great only thing is that you can’t use the accessory cable and HDD box to boot your new drive up. Other than that it’s the perfect way to repurpose your old drive and gain some serious space on your main drive.

Every time you buy something from OWC, for sure, this is the best you can buy for your Mac.

I did have to file a bit of the resin off one end of the board but other than that, installation was a breeze. Required installation tools were included as well. Hopefully the drive will last a long time.

Extend usability of my 2012 MacBook Pro 15 from standard 256GB SSD to 1 TB. SSD This 1TB SSD is also much faster than original by Apple. Every owner of 2012 Macbook Pro (SSD Based model only) should upgrade. Too bad Apple stops making sensible machine since 2012 so any newer Macbook Pros are struck with whatever they originally purchased with impossible upgrade path. Maybe that will change in 2020 as R&D would have new leadership. If Apple could devise new sensible Macbook Pro concept. A bless and wait for new real revolution, which would be just thicker, a bit heavier but completely practical, with reliable keyboard and upgradable. A real PRO notebook. Until then, upgrading 2012 MacBook Pro is the best deal youll ever get.
