Greater than one weekI have a 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina Screen. The original drive wouldnt boot but I was able to get it working once erased and everything was reloaded. I didnt have confidence in the original drive so I thought I would try the OWC drive. Note: I had to hold the option key down versus command + R and then hit the power button the first time booting. While I was able to get it to work, it had problems with the macOS Updates as well as the App updates. Im not sure why but maybe the MacBook recognized it was not an apple drive. I did reach out to OWC and the tech was very helpful and helped me update to a newer version of macOS (High Sierra vs. Mountain Lion which is what automatically got loaded). The problem is that compared to the original drive, it wouldnt automatically update me to the latest possible macOS. I spent hours on it trying to figure out how to automatically take to me macOS Catalina. I will admit I could have manually loaded it myself but compared to the original drive, all you had to do was click on Software Updates and it would automatically look for all available updates. This wasnt about just the macOS updates but also there were other app updates that kept getting hung up with the old drive. I compliment OWS on their tech support but in the end, Im returning it and taking my chances on the original drive. I am 100% certain there is something different in the way that the MacBook recognizes the Original vs. OWC drive. I spent enough time on both of them, wiping them clean and then starting from scratch to know that the updates behaved differently. Maybe someone has the solution that can help the next person?

25-11-2024Worked as expected when installed. Was able to easily partition it with Boot Camp, so that I could have both a Win 10 OS and a Mac OS on my MacBook Pro.

> 3 dayI love it. Of course, I know my purchase is too late for the model of MBPr. An 1 TB of SSD is enough for normal purpose of the machine, especially for me, and the performance is good.
