If a passive adaptor did not work for you, this active converter should. I have a HP15 notebook (laptop bought in 2016) & wanted to connect an external keyboard that was over 10 years old. I understand some newer keyboards/computers may work with the passive adaptor, but the active converter has a chip in it.

Just upgraded to a new Dell desktop with Windows 10. No PS2 ports anymore. Loved my old Microsoft Natural ergonomic keyboard. Already had an adapter (wired thru) that I got with one other new keyboard, but is was one designed for dual interface. This Perixx PS2 adapter converts the serial PS2 to USB. I plugged in the old keyboard to the Perixx and into a USB port and it works. Did not even see a notice of new device found. I am not a speed typist, and have not noticed any errors yet (other then my fat fingers). I did try a few multi key commands (alt, control, delete and alt, tab) and those commands were recognized.

I work with many computers and this USB to PS/2 adapter has come in handy many times, so much that I have purchased multiple units. So far this unit has worked in every new PC I needed to add to PS/2 based KVMs. Interestingly enough, while this dongle also works to allow PCs to boot headless through a BIOS that does not have an option to skip keyboard errors on POST, I found that it allowed a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 motherboard to boot with a brand new Corsair Gaming K70 RGB MK.2 keyboard that can only be plugged into a USB 3 port. Just having this adapter plugged into a regular USB port allowed the PC to boot past the POST screen into Windows 10, where the OS loaded the keyboard drivers to recognize the keyboard and allow one to log on and use it normally. Worth the $6 to use new keyboard on old system.

Plugged the adapter into the keyboard and computer and it worked as would be expected. I have been using this computer for several weeks with no issue.

This product works just as intended. Im very happy that I can still use my older trackball with my newer computer which doesnt have any serial ports, only USB ports
