UPDATE: After I contacted customer service via email (so my telephobia wouldnt happen), I was contacted within 24 hours by a CSR name Joyce. After sending my order number, model number and a video of the feeder with its error, they are sending me a new feeder base for only $25! Excellent customer service! Its still not ant proof so Im still taking off one star.

The Setup was pretty straightforward and easy. Manual includes pretty much all the necessary steps. For the portion of the meal, you get to set from 1 portion to 50. A portion is about one tablespoon & one teaspoon (I have Orijen Cat chicken). You can also use the manual feed button (see picture 2&3) to determine how much is one portion. This is my first feeder, received the package yesterday and just had everything set up. Am so far impressed. Will update if anything goes wrong.

This was perfect when I was gone for a few days It is also great on a regular basis since he gets fed at the same times everyday and I don’t have to hear him screaming for food.

I like this. Its tiny and it fits for a small cat. However, my cat somehow learned how to press touch buttons and got herself buffets.

Just got this for my 2 cats. I love it. My cats got startled at first when it drops the food but they come running when they hear it. My husband programmed it the first time and then he showed me how when we needed to change some settings. Basically, unlock it with the button (far left) and use the “gear” button (far right) to advance thru each program. The plus/minus signs are for setting the time, minutes and portion size. When finished programming, press and hold the “gear” to lock the programming. That tells it you are done. Regarding the portion sizes, start with a few portions and increase if necessary. For cats, it will be under 10 (I used 4). Also, if you don’t want to record a message, just hit the “gear” button to advance to the next program.

The instructions to set it up are difficult to follow and need more detail about the process. It took many attempts to get it set but now it is working well.

Our kitty started sticking his paws into our old feeder and would chew anything we put to protect the opening. Not with this one though! He immediately tried his old tricks, and even though his paws are small, he could not thanks to the mechanisms that block extra food from coming out. Portion control was a guess, but we figured it out after measuring what came out. (Setting P-03 = 1/4 of a cup for instance). Wish any auto feeder would come with a chart at least, but oh well. Love it so far! Will update if anything changes :)
