> 3 daySomewhat of a different feeling from past Pokemon games. Its well made and compares to the others in features and length, but it tries to tell a heartfelt story with more character development than past entries in the series. The new slew of Pokemon is similar to past additions. Nothing too exciting. Its hard to innovate at this point. But they take advantage of the region it is set in to introduce the legendaries in an engaging and meaningful way. It was hard to put this down and I beat it in the same week/end that it was released, which is always a good sign. Well worth it. I got Blue the day it came out and to this day Im still happy with the handheld releases for this series.

> 3 dayIn my opinion, Sun and Moon have done a lot of things right, but ruin it by forcing you through what seems like a game-length tutorial. Ive been playing since RBY, so this is very frustrating - to the point I completely stopped playing for a week and wouldnt have continued if my GF didnt keep trying to get me to. I would give this game 3 stars, but my GF loves it and doesnt mind anything Ive griped about, so she would give it 5. Overall 4 stars from us. P.S. Ive beaten the game now and restarted (custom starters run), and its much better now that I know what to expect. Its not as grating as it used to be.

> 3 dayA lot more forgettable of a game than before. I didnt find myself playing as much as the previous games, even if the visuals were great this time around. Ive never been one to invest a lot of time in pokemon breeding and things like that because I find it to be too tedious for my lack of game patience but Ive always managed to still have fun building different teams and constantly coming back to play my game. This time around though, I felt like everything was far too linear? Not a lot of places left exploration/discovery since you are already kind of told where to go, what to do and what youll find. This was probably to accommodate all the newer fans but it definitely felt more of a game for them than for an older fan like myself. And I was definitely disappointed in the removal of streetpass/spotpass features. You were forced to hang in the festival area to do any kind of interaction, and then you had to collect tickets to do certain things, I kind of just gave up on that.

> 3 dayI never thought I would rate one of the core Pokemon games anything below 5 stars, but I was a bit disappointed with this generation. The game itself is certainly playable, but I cannot get over the fact that I miss going to Gyms so much. The Pokemon available are sort of cool, but some of the special things that you have to do to catch them are pretty annoying. Overall, I felt like it was a bit of a step down from OR/AS, but hey, they tried something new. I guess there is always that possibility when you try something different.

> 3 dayI was skeptical when I picked up this game. I am a veteran of all the Pokemon games, from Red and Blue onward. I was disappointed in the direction that X and Y took the franchise, but GameFreak has gotten back onto the right path with this game. First: the gameplay changes. The gym challenge has been tossed and replaced with an island challenge, which combines traditional Pokemon battles with new mechanics that make each Island Trial unique. I wont spoil them here, but they were a breath of fresh air. Battles look great, the new battle screen has been redesigned for the better, and the movement is fluid. Second: the graphics. This game looks amazing. It as good as any 3DS game I have ever seen, and better in many ways. The animations are beautiful, the islands are gorgeous, and the new Pokemon look awesome. Third: the quality-of-life improvements. The PC in the Pokemon Center is easier than ever to use, the battle screen (as mentioned above) is the best its ever been, the backpack is better, HMs have been replaced with a new Poke-Ride feature that does the same thing but doesnt take up your moveslots, and there are a lot more variety of Pokemon early on than I am used to. Seriously, you can find over half of the Pokemon types by the end of the second route! Fourth: the story. This story is possibly (and probably) the best story of any Pokemon game to date. Its interesting, it flows well, it evokes emotional reactions in you, and it has several great surprises. Things I didnt like: The beginning tutorial takes a couple of hours to get through. As someone who has played these games for a long time, I felt like my hand was being held far too often at the beginning. And the number of cutscenes in the beginning of the game is ridiculous. It gets much better after that, but still, the first couple hours are a slog. Also, this game does not run great on the older 3DS models. It suffers from semi-frequent slowdowns in-battle. Even on the New 3DS models, there are occasional slowdowns in battles. Also, a lot of the new Pokemon in the game are slower than I am used to, which makes battles against old Pokemon a little frustrating. Overall, this is a worthy game to pick up. I had to knock off a star due to the game having some issues on older 3DS systems and the length of the beginning tutorial/cutscene spamfest. But other than that, it is an amazing game that I highly recommend to both fans of the series and anyone who wants to try out their first Pokemon game. It will not disappoint.

> 3 dayMoon version is quite fun to play. The story plot, while nothing deep, is quite entertaining and well thought, with some nostalgia for the old time players like myself. One downside, at least for me, is that the plot ends way too quick. Theres not much to be said about a Pokemon game. The game mechanics itself havent changed much in 20 years, besides some enhancements in the type system and some battle dynamics. It remains a great starting RPG and a challenging competitive platform offering PVP with players around the world.

> 3 dayThis game does not utilize 3D capabilities. The overall quality feels a bit unfinished. The story gets an incredibly slow start. The Rotom Dex is more annoying than Clippy and Navi combined. Every other line of Team Skulls dialogue makes me cringe because their body language is like the choreography for a rap video on meth, and they stereotype gang culture with African American Vernacular English so it comes off as a bit racist even with white characters saying it. The gameplay has been changed a lot since the previous generation. Some of the essential basic features that have been there since gen 1 have been removed, so its hardly even Pokémon anymore. There are no gym battles. There arent even gyms. There are no HMs, and the replacement for them doesnt even make any sense. There are no bikes, probably because the writers decided everyone would be happy with riding a Pokémon. You can no longer transfer Pokémon up from previous generations, except Bank(a service you have pay for annually) will enable that starting next month, but Pokémon cant hold items when transferred through Bank, so I will lose all of my rare items that I worked hard to earn and find. Online gameplay is flooded with cheaters that Nintendo refuses to do anything about. Even well-known players in official tournaments are obviously cheating and harass anyone who mentions it. The only reason I havent sold the game is because I still do link battles with my partner.

> 3 dayOne of the best main series Pokemon games Ive ever played! I like how much love they put into the storyline and characters this rime around, and the new Pokemon are very good. They really stepped up their game since X and Y. There are also so many things you can do. Like side quests for extra money, looking for creatures for the Zygarde Cube, taking photos of Pokemon, and Poke Pelago. Some of the bigger changes, like the Trials instead of Gym Battles, and removal of HMs really lends to the culture of Alola, and the progression of Pokemon as a game. Z-Moves are a better addition than the Mega Evolutions and are incoporrated into the story and gameplay pretty well. Z-Moves also scale with the Pokemons stats. Customization has improved, too. My only greviances are that there should be more Alola Pokemon (because they are so good) and there are performance issues during battles that are not 1v1. But if you can get past that, then you are going to enjoy all that the Alola Region has to offer you.
