Edit: Ive added one star since my initial review. On Razers end, their warranty was able to support me with a functional replacement. Its such a shame because the new keyboard didnt have a wrist rest and is actually a different beast altogether, or so I will disclose. A upgrade on paper, but not the way I may have most wanted. If the orange switch version of this BlackWidow didnt have any issues, it would have been the perfect keyboard thats suited for my needs. Ill be fair, I believe the support team did the best they could. The teams involved in product dev. and manufacturing just seem to have botched the keys I had issues with, and further research say Im not the only one with the problem. Had this for about a week now and the chroma effects glitch out when using in tandem with other lighting features. Started to get the iconically frustrating double clicks on keys like a, t, d, s, etc. the day I got it. Banging on the broken keys for a press or two works for a couple minutes until it starts bugging out again This is definitely not a software problem btw, Ive made the lengthy and troubling journey of reviewing my computer and the synapse program of any potential incompatibility or mishap. This double typing applies to any laptop and desktop Ive tried it on. Just gonna use my old keyboard for now and shelf this since I cant return it. Didnt feel like it was worth the effort. Im going to avoid Razer Keyboards for now. Spent good money on what wouldve potentially been an awesome experience.

This is a superb gaming keyboard with limited button features, but Razers synapse program makes it an amazing tool to keep your game sharp. Four stars for a great build, cool customizable lights right now to the individual key, an excellently built wrist rest that conveniently snaps on to the keyboard, and an intuitive program that allows for all of the customization. Fast and reliable, obviously tough with lots of use. While an expensive keyboard, I got the tactile and clicky version on sale, and holy crap do they mean clicky. It sounds like a damn typewriter, but is a very effective and deadly fast board for anyone looking to step up their game. I’d advise to wait for a sale, or spend a little extra on a version with some more options if you got the coin, and probably a quieter switch set.

Perfect gaming keyboard for work from home...orange razer key has good feedback and accuracy

Ive used this keyboard for 3 years. It was great until the last couple months, I started getting key repeating issues, press q and I get qqq same thing on multiple keys (m,g,=,7, etc). Internet says this is just dust in my keys, so I blew them out with canned air over and over, no luck. Razer support said theyd replace my keyboard, great! Nope, its past the 2-year warranty, so they took back their word on the replacement. Ridiculous considering how much they tout their 80 Million Keystroke Lifespan and long-lasting switches on a keyboard equipped to handle years and years of constant gaming. Dont trust their marketing, trust their 2-year warranty. Besides that, the keyboard is pretty good. I wish the fn key had RGB, so weird that it doesnt, and Razers software isnt too bad, but still not great. The worst part is the keyboard doesnt remember the light setting, so when you use it on a PC without the Razer Synapse software installed, it just color cycles. This wouldnt matter except Im using it for work now and dont want to install Razer software on my work PC. I have a cheap $40 keyboard that has a couple dozen built in lighting modes and color sets without any software. One of the best parts of this keyboard is the wrist rest, its still holding up great. Its so hard to find a rest made for TKL size keyboards. The other wrist rest I have from Redragon isnt nearly as good. Update on my key issues, I sprayeda drop of WD40 into the keys with issues and the problem went away over time. Could have been a firmware update too, not sure.

Review is for the BlackWidow TE Chroma V2 TKL. This keyboard had an unacceptably loose, wiggly space bar. I would have returned the keyboard but I took the space bar off and was able to tighten up the action by bending the wire guide and adding a rubber o-ring to the switch. Not ideal. When everything works properly this is a nice keyboard. I docked one star for the quality control problems and a second star, bringing it to three, because Razer made some design decisions with this keyboard that are bad for gaming. Lets start with the wrist rest. I feel this is a real shame, because the wrist wrest is super comfortable, but: I find it sucks for gaming. It is too high, leaving the left hand elevated above the keys with no real tactile feedback on where over the keys the hand is positioned. The feedback from the wrist rest is uniformly pillowy. Again, very comfortable and feels marvelous, but not good for gaming. Particularly a game where the left hand is moving around and reaching a lot for hotkeys. Think RTS like StarCraft 2 or MMOs or MOBAs. Im using the keyboard without the wrist rest which yields better results, but then the profile and angle of the keyboard feels tall and severe, respectively. Next, and this is a serious gripe: The keys are a slick ABS with no, and I mean NO, texture. This contributes again to problems with keystroke accuracy because there is no texture feedback from the keys. When using the wrist rest it is like having a keyboard that you can barely feel under your hand. Again, comfortable but it is bad for gaming. The fact that Razer sells textured PBT keycaps separately is pretty offensive. This is an expensive keyboard and they should have shipped it with the superior keycaps. I dont love it enough to spend an extra $30 making the keycaps not-terrible, because that leaves the combined problem of the wrist rest and tall profile. Some positive points. There are more than a few. I got the orange switches and they have a light, satisfying tactical feel with none of the clicky noise. Rubber o-rings can be used, making this a very quiet keyboard with them installed. I used clear o-rings to minimize disruption to the lighting. Im a forceful typist and I make all but the quietest keyboards obnoxiously loud, so this degree of quiet in a mechanical keyboard is exactly what I was looking for. Without the rubber o-rings it still clacks quite a bit when the keys bottom out. My spouse hates clicky keyboards in the house. The software allows a lot of customization of the lighting. It is very cool. The HyperShift functionality allows Caps Lock to function as a software-based modifier. Through software, every key with the exception of the Windows, Fn and F1 through F12 keys can be reprogrammed with alternative actions in either regular or HyperShift mode. The macro support is good, but note: Certain uses of the macro features on devices like this can get you banned from online games, especially competitive ones. So exercise caution and restraint. ;) This is a nice keyboard to type on even though I dont love it for gaming. The palm/wrist rest is very comfortable, the key action is good with keys that dont move around too much under my fingers. The ergonomics of the modifier keys is excellent, and the modifiers are large making it easier to find them. Windows key, Alt+F4 and Alt+Tab can be disabled through gaming mode. Key travel is a little shorter than your average mechanical keyboard, and with rubber o-rings it becomes even shorter, bottoming out around 3mm. I like that. I also bought a Deathadder V2 mouse and unfortunately had to return the first one for being defective and already retired the second one for being ineffective due to a poorly designed and implemented right mouse button. I tried to give Razer a go with this build but I wont be staying with their products.

I purchased this keyboard as part of my Work from Home setup. I like the feel of the keys and its quiter than my other mechanical keyboard I use for gaming. I put the orange o-rings on, and its really only slightly quieter. I intend to take this keyboard to work for my office setup when my office opens back up. This keyboard looks very professional and the onboard controls allow me to adjust backlight without the need for the Razer Software, which is good for those trying to use the keyboard on a corporate computer. I like having the functionality of a mechanical keyboard without the rainbow of backlight, which cant be controlled on a corporate computer. Overall, a great keyboard that is good for gaming and work.

I love this keyboard, but its pretty loud. I wish the O-Ring Sound Dampeners were already on it. Im too lazy to put them on. However, I dont know if it will be as smooth with them on. I guess it is more quiet than the Huntsman keyboard. Every keypress on Huntsman sounds like throwing a brick against a wall, so this is much better. ...Razer Orange switch technology provides tactile feedback with a quieter click, requiring 45 G of actuation force; ideal for most gaming and typing experiences - I guess this is not completely misleading since it is quieter than the other Razer I had but the word quiet should not be in the description of this item since it is not. Are quiet mechanical keyboards a myth?

Half of the keys are so touchy that Im always getting double taps from single taps. Thats not what I have come to expect from Razer. The secondary characters on the numbers such as ! @ # $ % arent plainly visible so if you use it for anything but gaming, youre going to need light and reading glasses if you type by sight like me. None of this has caused gaming issues...yet.

The keyboard feels nice to the touch. the keys are exactly what i was looking for in a keyboard. snappy and feel good. the only thing i wish was a little different was the wrist rest. it sits a little higher than the keyboard so your thumb has to press a little long to get to the keyboard. The angle of wrist rest to keyboard is a little uncomfortable but im sure its something ill get used to over time.

My typing is faster and error-free after upgrading to this keyboard from membrane keyboards. And I would say the feel is great and the keys are not too noisy, either. The biggest improvement is the reduction in mouse shoulder. My shoulders used to get very tense and sore due to mousing. This was in large part due to the width of a conventional keyboard forcing the mouse too be placed too far to the right. My mouse shoulder was so sore that I was forced to switch move the mouse to the left side, but that only created the same problems on my left. Sacrificing the number keypad was no problem, and the narrow dimensions means I can now use the mouse in an ergonomic position. Voila! My mouse shoulder symptoms have decreased 90+%, so much so that I havent had to switch the mouse to the left.
