There is not a lot new here that I am going to be able to share, that many others have already shared in these reviews. This SanDisk Extreme Pro is currently the Performance favorite at the Toms Hardware website, and the reviews tell the deeper story. I have the 480 GB version of this drive, and I purchased it to use as my Operating System drive in a new Intel based Z97 Computer, and did not want to go with a PCIe X 4 M.2 Drive quite yet. Having already used the Samsung and Crucial SSD SATA drives in the recent past, I decided to read up and see if there was anything else new to research, and I came upon the reviews for this drive. Yes, the Samsung is a great SSD, and is faster in short data bursts, but if you are doing any heavy duty data transfer or processing, this is the SSD to go with. The SanDisk Extreme Pro will tear through large random data transfers and maintain high speed and not get bogged down. Using this SSD to load Windows 7 Pro for the first time was incredible due to a very short load and set up time. This SSD is a real powerhouse, and the 10 year warranty is pretty nice too. Very glad I purchased this, but I will be looking for a PCIe X 4 M.2 SSD to make things even faster. I want to see SanDisks entry into that Market, which I believe will explode soon.

I have a MacBook Pro (mid 2009) (MacBookPro5,3) and had been noticing recently that it was spending more time than usual waiting on the hard drive (spinning disk). Having had similar issues over the years with PCs running Windows, I decided it was time for a new hard drive. I could find very little information about this SSD being installed in my generation of MacBook but decided to take the plunge. I decided to physically remove the Macs optical drive as well because it was no longer in use and I felt that it was holding down the SATA speed to 1.5 gigabit which was experience in other PCs. After removal, I filled the slot with silicone to prevent someone from putting a CD in the slot as well as to not cause any airflow issues for cooling. I plugged the SSD into my USB port using a special cable and then used Carbon Copy Clone to transfer all the data. The number of used bytes on the SSD went down dramatically probably because the hard drive marked sectors as unusable. After I physically installed the SSD, a boot was lightning fast and the SATA speed was now 3.0 gigabit. UPDATED REVIEW: Initially rated 5 stars, now revising to 3. I initially purchased this drive and had issues with it after about a year of use. Sandisk replaced the drive and I was happy. Now the replacement is exhibiting issues with bootup where my macbook sometimes cannot detect the drive. Its a different issue than previously, but Im getting fed up with having to reinstall the OS and restore my files from backup due to faulty SSD hardware. Thank goodness Sandisk has a 10yr warranty, but twice having to replace it is unpleasant. When the drive works as advertised, the speed is still great. Will not choose Sandisk again in the future for an SSD Solution. ------------ INITIAL REVIEW: Purchased a couple years ago for my Macbook Pro, along with more memory. This drive performed incredibly! Unfortunately, after about a year of use, I started to notice corruption, and slower read times. The drive went bad. Thankfully SANDISK provided a replacement extremely quickly AND my backups were current. 10/10 would purchase again.

This speeded up my 4 year old desktop enough that I have stopped looking for a replacement computer. I use it as my boot drive and for all the Windows and program files. And the good news is, when I finally do get a new computer, I can move this SSD to there and get even better results. (Note that my computer is old enough that it only supports SATA-2, which limits my retrieval speed to only 3.0Gb/s. You need a computer that supports SATA-3 to get the full 6.0Gb/s.)

Put this in an older HP laptop and seems to be working well. This is the first SSD Ive used, so I cant comment on comparing it to other models or brands. Did a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro so cant really tell you how easy it would be for replacing/cloning your old OS. I CAN tell you the Windows Experience Score for the hard drive went from 4.5 to 7.6 after installing the drive, so it did increase performance. Just wish my laptop supported SATA 6 then this drive would probably run at full potential.

So far so good .... A NIGHTMARE to get your system copied to.... The ONLY company I know of that does not give you a way to copy your old system to it..... YOU MUST BUY SOFTWARE TO DO THAT!!! So be prepared to spend another 30 bucks. OR just use the extra 30 bucks to get a larger competitor drive(SAMSUNG) that will give you the resources to copy your old system to the new drive and be using the new drive in no time at all.OR buy this one and spend several hours(AND 30 BUCKS OR SO) transferring your old system to it.

This hard drive has great transfer rates. I really liked that Sandisk has software that lets you be in control, when youre running Windows 8 they recognize that the prefetch/superfetch, trim, and disk optimization is handled automatically by the OS so they dont walk you through redundant tweaks. The channel saturation is very nice, it keeps the sata 3 running at its highest capacity. The disk is stable, and the 10 year warranty is great peace of mind. If I run into any issues Ill update this review, but so far Im impressed by the speed and ease of setup.

This is STUPID FAST!!! Had to get it for my new Dell Laptop. The new Inspiron 7000 series with the new 4K screen is very slim and sleek. Highly recommended if you are in the market for a new laptop. Only downside is the SSD drive I had in my old laptop is too thick. So kind of a bummer had to buy another SSD. Decided to go up to the 480KB from teh 256 Curcial Technology drive that I had. Great drive too, but this is a few notches above it. Windows 8 loads in 5 seconds flat on this thing. Absolutely nuts! The reviews seem to indicate this should be a solid performer and have great reliability. Time will tell on that end, but I can assure that the speed is there! Is it worth the extra $50 or so to upgrade form the Crucial? That I leave up to you, for me I would rather spend the extra money and know I am getting the best. But I have two Crucials and they have both performed admirably, just decided to try SanDisk this time based on the online review magazines. Highly recommended.

I felt burned by Samsung and their 840 EVO SSD. Latest fix requires machine to be always on to make sure data is moved around -- to prevent read slowdown. And the slowdown isnt from 1 week old stale data -- so I dont know how review websites can rate the fix. In fact, the review sites were wrong the first time Samsung released a fix -- hence Samsung came out with yet another fix. Samsung does not want to support or provide a path to 840 PRO or 850 EVO/PRO line ... even if you are willing to pay the difference. Ive been extremely pleased with this SSD. Consistently fast.

I bought this drive to replace an aging Raptor drive which I feared was failing after 10 years of solid use. My Raptor drive was only 74 GB and was so heavily strapped with the excessive Windows 7 64 bit load, that I had to move all of my resource intense programs (Video Games) to a secondary drive. Even after doing this, every time a Windows update popped up, I would have to go through and make space on the drive for the computer to run properly. Out with the old and in with the new. I purchased this drive along with the Corsair 600Q quiet case with the hopes of cutting down on noise as well as improving operation. I had no desire to purchase a new Windows operating system so my plan was to backup the Raptor onto the SanDisk. My original plan was to achieve this by using the method of backing up to an external drive and then rebuild onto the new drive. I actually started down this path until I loaded the Dashboard program onto the drive. This is when I noticed that the drive came with a one time use drive transfer program. Rather than looking a gift horse in the mouth, I took at shot at using what was intended to be a simpler process. I have to admit that I was impressed at the ease of installation of the SanDisk drive with the provided software. I started up the program, answered a few basic questions, and hit execute. Thinking that there would be something else to do at this point, I waited for the next prompt. After a minute I felt pretty safe that the prompt was not coming so I headed off to mow the lawn thinking I had a few hours to kill. After about 30 minutes I came back in to find, much to my surprise, that it was more than 60% complete. Twenty minutes later, before I was done weed eating, the program was done. Power down, disconnect the Raptor, and reboot. My system started up immediately, just like it did before...with one exception, no more 10k RPM whine from the old Raptor drive. To date I am extremely happy with purchase and would strongly recommend the SanDisk Extreme PRO to any of my friends.
