Greater than one weekI bought this to upgrade my desktops drive from an HDD to an SSD to take advantage of the speed increase. Let me just say, it makes a world of difference. Programs launch much quicker and the computer starts up and resumes from sleep much quicker. My only note is that if you are planning on putting this in a desktop, buy a 2.5 to 3.5 drive adapter so that you can mount it in your case, as desktop HDDs are 3.5 inches and SSDs (including this one) are 2.5 and they will most likely not fit in your case. But this drive itself is AWESOME! The included SanDisk drive utility is also really useful for figuring out specifics about your drive including the life left in it.

> 3 dayVery happy with this drive. I recently converted an older Windows XP system over to Linux and I could tell that my hard drive was the choke point in performance. I managed to catch this beauty on sale for $120, and I was happily surprised to learn it came with a 10 year warranty - I guess that SSD drives have really improved their read/write cycle longevity. Anyhow, I moved my Linux install over to this drive and it truly flies now - faster boot time, and much faster application load times. Even Netflix desktop running under WINE works fast. I would recommend this as a boot drive for anyone. (Fantastic for compact home-theater PC builds) It also makes a great laptop/notebook drive, or to stick into an external USB drive case since their are no moving parts - much more drop resistant, requires less power, and generates less heat than a drive with a spinning platter.

> 3 dayI used this in an IBM Thinkpad T530. Works very well. For me, I took out the dvd tray, slapped in a hard drive caddy with this ssd, then used MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition 9.1. In their software its an easy migrate to new HD/SSD button, hit apply, it reboots, and copies everything to the new drive. Then I replaced the hard drive with this ssd, put my dvd rom back in, and rebooted. With a desktop, just connect this to an empty SATA slot with the power cord, and run the same software. Windows 10 came back up without any issues. Easy and painless. Loving the additional speed and size. 10 year warranty gives me peace of mind.

> 3 dayI recently bought a new 21 1/2 iMac with a fast processor but only 8GB of RAM. The performance was quite disappointing. As a professional software developer, I make heavy use of my machine, running several applications at once for coding, testing, and editing graphics. The iMac was constantly swapping out memory to the slow internal hard drive and it was KILLING me! On the advice of co-workers, I purchase this drive, along with and external USB enclosure. I then set it up as a bootable drive, and restored my back from Time Machine. With the drive plugged into one of the USB-3 ports, the machine boots in about 30 seconds (instead of 3-4 minutes) and comes up to the desktop in about 10 seconds after logging in. Testing with the Black Magic Disk Speed Test, it does about 400 MB/s write and 425 MB/s read. This is roughly four times faster than the internal hard drive. Also, I can keep open three browsers, three different development environments, two graphics editors and two virtual machines and the iMac doesnt break a sweat. Very, very pleased!

Greater than one weekBest thing I could have bought. It made my wifes MacBook Slow into a MacBook Pro (event though I am not a fan of Mac). It used to take her 2 minutes to turn on, 15 or 30 seconds to get to home page from sleep, and 8 minutes (how crazy!!!) to open up LightRoom or PhotoShop. Her computer had that stupid beach ball spinning all the time, and all the programs ran slow (her computer is barely over a year old). I copied her hard drive onto this SSD and we havent had one problem since! Her computer will come all the way on and at home screen in about 15 seconds, when from sleep it is right up by the time it is all the way opened and once you enter password it is right at home screen, no wait. Also you can have a ton of programs open and it doesnt have any delay or lag switching between them. LightRoom and PhotoShop open in a mind-blowing 5 seconds compared to 8 minutes. I didnt know the SSD would do that for her computer but I am slow glad it did and I am forever grateful to SanDisk! Awesome product!

> 3 dayThere is not a lot new here that I am going to be able to share, that many others have already shared in these reviews. This SanDisk Extreme Pro is currently the Performance favorite at the Toms Hardware website, and the reviews tell the deeper story. I have the 480 GB version of this drive, and I purchased it to use as my Operating System drive in a new Intel based Z97 Computer, and did not want to go with a PCIe X 4 M.2 Drive quite yet. Having already used the Samsung and Crucial SSD SATA drives in the recent past, I decided to read up and see if there was anything else new to research, and I came upon the reviews for this drive. Yes, the Samsung is a great SSD, and is faster in short data bursts, but if you are doing any heavy duty data transfer or processing, this is the SSD to go with. The SanDisk Extreme Pro will tear through large random data transfers and maintain high speed and not get bogged down. Using this SSD to load Windows 7 Pro for the first time was incredible due to a very short load and set up time. This SSD is a real powerhouse, and the 10 year warranty is pretty nice too. Very glad I purchased this, but I will be looking for a PCIe X 4 M.2 SSD to make things even faster. I want to see SanDisks entry into that Market, which I believe will explode soon.

> 3 dayI have had this model of SanDisk SSD (first one returned to SanDisk about a year ago) for just over 2 years. The SanDisk drive is installed in an HP Mini 2102 laptop, that was initially running dual-boot, Ubuntu 1604 and Windows 7 Starter - 64bit. In August 2016, I took advantage of a free ugrade to Windows 10 Home (later I observed this was the 32 bit version of Windows 10 and suspect the switch in bits was related to the Atom processor in the laptop). What a mistake I made. The first problem I observed was screen updates were sluggish and large pauses would occur. I suspected a video driver issue and proceeded to update drivers using a third-party software solution. No changes. Next thing I knew Windows 10 wanted to update to 1607. The upgrade process required a lot of boots and many of them would hang with the disk activity light solid. Contacted SanDisk and they decided to send me a new drive. After restoring from a backup, I was able to get the update to 1607 to complete with only a couple disk hangs while booting up only. I was now observing the disk activity light a lot more. When screen updates would hang, I now noticed the disk activity light being solid and would recover , 20 seconds being the longest. I started using hibernate a lot more to avoid the solid hangs. Also, I observed that when Ubuntu got sluggish, the disk light would go solid, but would recover in less than 5 seconds. Now Windows 10 update 1703 becomes available around April 2017. For some reason, I decided to move the SanDisk SSD to another laptop - HP HDX 16. The update to Win 10 1703 went without a single hang in the HP HDX 16. My conclusion is the SATA/??? controller on the HP Mini 2102 has problems or the driver-controller has issues. The Windows 10 Home driver being much worse than Ubuntu 16.04 driver or the Windows 7 Starter. Going to contact SanDisk again to see if any updates from a year ago and share my experience. Should contact Microsoft about the 32 to 64 bit switch-aroo since the drive may be going into a computer with a lot more memory than the 2.97GB restriction for 32 bit. Or, visualize it on Ubuntu 17.04 64 bit.

> 3 dayThis is an amazing product. My wife had a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro that I was considering replacing. While the laptop worked well, we just noticed things were taking longer and longer. She could not have as many programs open as she could in the past, etc. In hindsight, programs have become more memory intensive, more photos from mobile devices, higher resolutions, faster internet, etc. I read a few reviews and decided to replace her 5200rpm hard drive with solid state. OMG!!!! AMAZING!!! Her laptop is as fast as the new stuff in the stores. What a great, great investment this turned out to be. I ordered the extra cable to help with the cloning process. The software for cloning was already on my mac but the cable was helpful. After the clone, a few minutes to install, POW! As a matter of fact, I was so happy, I ordered a second one for my office PC which is not a laptop. Boot time went from 85 seconds to less than 10 seconds. Everything is snappy fast. No brainer here!

> 3 dayBeing my first SSD I have no complaints. Boot time for my windows 10 5 year old computer is about 50-52 seconds.Amazing difference in computer speed when you add an SSD. By adding an SSD you also lose the spinning sound of a traditional HDD which makes your computer much quieter. Adding an SSD to an older computer can be challenging and I had to do some research but it was worth every penny. Dont forget to download Sandisk SSD dashboard from their website after installing as it is a useful utility.
