Unlike some other brands SanDisk has never let me down. I am talking to you Samsung and Adata! I have 5 of these drives and 2 of their Ultra Plus drives in various builds with no complaints. Will they fail? Sure!! Eventually every drive does. My suggestion, dont use these for storage. Use it for your operating system. Turn off prefetch, superfetch, auto defragmentation and make sure TRIM is enabled in your BIOS. Im not going to explain all that, there are many videos out there that will be better at it than I would. Just be aware that SSD drives have a much smaller overwrite endurance capacity than a more traditional drive and to extend the life of the unit you want to minimize unnecessary writes. So far I am happy with these drives and SanDisk overall.

I bought one of these to upgrade my 6-year old laptop when I installed Windows 10. This is a cheap way to breath new life into an old laptop. The speed increase is very noticeable. SanDisk is one of the best companies in this category. Some have complained that this drive is thinner than the hard disk they are replacing. BEFORE you remove your hard drive from any bracket, note how the connector on the hard drive is positioned relative to the bracket itself. In particular, the height of the connector centerline to the face of the bracket. A shim will come with the new SanDisk SSD drive. It can be used on either the bottom or top of the SSD drive. Use it in the position that positions the connector centerline similarly to that of the hard drive. If, for instance, you put the shim under the SSD drive, it may raise the connector centerline higher than it should, making it difficult or impossible to properly mate with the other side of the connector in the laptop.

This is a hard review to write for me as I like SanDisk products. I own lots of there micro SD cards with no complaints at all. Now having said that I have to really gig them for this SSD Drive, which I sent back. From the moment that I took it out of the box, which I though was empty, just saying, It felt cheap. The case was thin cheap plastic which I thought I could put my thumb threw if I pressed hard enough. As I already stated it was so light I though nothing was in it. Now just so you know that I know what Im talking about I own 7 SSD drives, 3 in my desktop computer, 1 in my HP laptop and 2 in my wifes desktop computer and a spare, all installed by me, so I know how they should feel. The other SSD drives I have purchased are Crucial and Corsair brands. This SanDisk SSD was for my old Sony VIO to sell at a garage sale. I figured I could get a better price for it with an SSD drive. Well it did not work out. The connections on the SanDisk were so flimsy that when it was plugged into the VIOs hard drive connection and the cover was placed back on it the drive would disconnect, no matter what I did I could not keep the drive connected and the connections were not broken. To make sure it was not my laptop causing the trouble I plugged in the spare 240gb Corsair SSD and it worked beautifully. So how do I sum up, its difficult because as I said SanDisk makes some very nice product, and maybe your mileage may be better if you buy this same drive, but I would suggest that you go with SanDisks Extreme Pro line of SSDs IMHO they are better made and have better speed then the Plus line of SSDs. For the bottom line, its your call on this drive, for me Ill spend the extra few bucks for a drive that your thumb wont go through. Another helpful review from the friendly Motorcycle Man

I bought it 1 year and 2 months ago to increment my old Thinkpad X201 notebook, which dates from late 2009/early 2010. I use Linux/GNU/Lubuntu with 8GB or RAM, and the machine just flies and performs better than many machines much younger than that. The SSD was the most beneficial update during all this time (yes, even counting the 4-8GB upgrade), as expected. I dont care about benchmarks, but you can find them, for this model, easily and anywhere. I always like to wait a reasonable time before reviewing fine electronics (or try to update the reviews as time goes by) in order to also evaluate its durability. Im glad to inform that it is still working just as well after more than a year. Therefore, Im satisfied.

I had no problem cloning and upgrading my standard OS 120GB 3.5 Hard Drive to this SSD. I used Macrium Reflect Free and a How-To Geek guide to clone my OS drive without any difficulties. (From about 45 seconds to 8 seconds) and programs load quicker. Honestly though, I really dont notice much of a difference in everyday performance but boot time and shutdown speed are really quick now. That alone is worth the price to me. Overall the drive is decent and is a good way to get your feet wet in the SSD realm. Perhaps it would be better to invest a bit more for a faster SSD though as I really dont notice much of a performance boost besides quick boot up and shutdown speeds.

This went in a laptop from 2010 (by then it was about 7-8 months on the market), and makes a WORLD of difference in speed and bootup time. I upgraded it to Windows 10 and the stock 250GB hard drive was on the slow and unresponsive side. I used a cloning software and in 40min, cloned the drive to the SSD and swapped it inside. I opted for the 120GB capacity because I dont use this laptop as my main machine and didnt need a ton of space. Now my laptop boots in less than 20 seconds!

Got my product in the mail today, Plopped it into my old Toshiba laptop to replace the 5200 RPM slow HDD. I could not be happier with this product! The only Con to this product is the look, Its kind of ugly. But thats okay, I wont see it in the laptop anyways. As for speed? It is a very good read speed, But the write is a little low compared to some of the more expensive SSDs. BUT, With anything PC related, You get what you pay for. For the price? Amazing. 4/5 Stars

Works perfectly with my 15 early 2011 MacBook Pro. I was very close to replacing my laptop since it had slowed to a crawl even with just a couple Chrome tabs open, but I decided to give this a chance and Im ecstatic I did. It feels brand new again, even with just 4 Gb ram still. A few details about the installation: - If buying for the same model as me, youll need a small screwdriver to remove the 10 small screws from the bottom of the laptop. Take note of the position the three longer screws are in - Youll also need a size 8 torx screwdriver to remove the little rods from the current HDD to put in your new SSD to hold it in place - Remove the 4 black screws on the rails surrounding the HDD to remove it. Notice in the pic I removed the 6 torx screws on top of the HDD. That was a mistake, dont do that. After putting it all back together and firing it up, I pressed command+R to launch Internet Recovery. When I reached the part where it asked me to select a destination drive for the installation, the drive didnt show up in the list (nothing did). I went back to the Recovery screen and chose the Disk Utility option. The drive did show up here, so I knew it was recognized. I clicked it, then clicked the Partition tab, and created a 2-part partition, one of the parts 239 Gb or so which I named SSD Boot, and the other part just 1 Gb named Recovery. After creating the partition I returned to the installation setup and now I was able to select SSD Boot as the destination drive for installation. The Internet Recovery wanted to install Lion (OS X 10.7?), however, it kept telling me that it was currently unavailable. So instead I did a recovery from Timemachine on another drive on my local network. You may need to do this beforehand if you dont have a bootable drive to install from.

Installed this on my 15 Macbook Pro (mid 2012 model). I dont use too much space on my HDD, so I opted for the 120GB SSD for blazing fast start-up speeds and application control. The speed is well worth it. Easy install, also comes with a frame for the SSD. My only complaint is that it does not come with any spacers. I now have a little extra room in the HDD bay, and can noticeably hear the SSD moving around frequently. Despite the spacing, I would recommend for anyone looking to add some life back into their machine.

(*Update* 9/11/2016 I was able to get the computer back up after all. The only way to get the system to load is by bypassing driver verification. I had someone suggest that the windows backup was corrupted by the first crash. No way to know but oh well. (*Update* 9/7/2016 Well, the darn thing worked for a couple of months and now the computer wont boot again. Just before the loading screen on Windows 7 it auto reboots. I have tried restoring the computer to a previous restore point, cant access safe mode, and am finding the problem may be related to the SSD itself. Im tempted to go buy a different brand of SSD and try a restore on it to make sure its the SanDisk. Ive never had issues like this on other computers using other brands of hard drives. Until I prove it isnt the SanDisk SSD it gets a star axing down to 1 star.) Original - This was installed as a fast-boot drive for my wifes school/gaming computer. After 6 months of normal use my wife got an error on her computer stating that the hard drive had corrupted sectors and errors on it along with an error that said the version of windows was no longer verifiable. Essentially, the C dirve (SanDisk) had died. We attempted to back it up but it wouldnt backup any of it. I cant get it to work even on a separate device. Im thoroughly surprised that this would stop working like it did, in such a short time. Especially after reading all of the positive reviews and knowing SanDisks reputation. I personally am using a much cheaper SSD as a boot drive and have experienced no problems (knock on wood.) So I dont think its a surge problem or anything like that. At this time I would no longer recommend this product. *Update* Shortly after writing this review I decided to check the negative reviews to see if anyone had experienced a similar problem to mine and had any solutions to it. Turns out, a manufacturer had responded to someone elses SSD that had died like mine and left a number to contact. SanDisk has told me that they will replace the SSD because it is under warranty. As of now, Im awaiting to receive the new SSD before changing this review. *Update* 7/29/2016 So we received the replacement for the SSD yesterday and installed it. It seems to be working well. Our experience with the company was actually fairly decent. They were polite, ensured us that we would receive a replacement once they determined that the SSD was faulty, and have come through on their word. For this particular part of our SanDisk experience: The Cons -Our restored Windows 7 now has a corrupt file and claims we are not running a genuine version of windows (which is an annoying issue in itself.) -My Wife has had no access to her school-notes during the wait time it took to receive the new SSD (roughly one week.) -No data recovery offered or seemingly avail. -Have to turn in the old SSD for a new one, losing any ability to one day recover the data on the SSD Pros -SanDisk stood by their warranty and sent a replacement SSD with a fairly simple process to claim a return. -The new SanDisk SSD is installed and working. Since SanDisk sent a replacement and stayed true to their warranty Ive bumped the rating to 3 stars. Thank you SanDisk customer service for standing by your policy.
