> 24 hourThis stuff is great, but just know if you select the 500 ml size you will also need to buy their bag or one that is 180 micron or less. Has to be a very fine bag, like the one Seachem will sell to you. Just one complaint, misleading as the smaller sizes come with the bag. I still give it 5 starts since there isnt anything out there like it that I know of that can polish your aquarium water any better.

> 24 hourOkay, so I absolutely didnt do enough research when going into the reef hobby. Now whether you have freshwater or saltwater you are going to have nitrates, nitrites and ammonia build up. Ive used this in my reef tank for many many years it keeps my nitrates and everything in else in check. Often when you have a saltwater tank you want to have a good sump that keeps everything balanced. Well, with my tank it was originally meant to be freshwater and had the option of being saltwater. However, it was not really meant to be a reef tank. Purigen gives me the peace of mind that my tank isnt gonna crash. Now I read somewhere that this could be replaced every 6 months. I think that really depends on the tank. The color of purigen will change when it is used up. I have never tried recharging this as I just dont think it is worth my time. I usually change mine every 2-3 months. Works well. I am curious to see what would happen in a goldfish tank that is known for high ammonia.

> 24 hourI found the most difficult information to retrieve was if this product works as well when you have a planted tank. I tested myself and I can say that after two weeks my plants still growing without any sign of nutrient deficiency. I really waned to give this product 5 stars. However, Ive been told that it does not much more compared to a carbon filter (which I never used so I personally cannot compared). I really like it tho, and I really suggest it to buy if you dont like to mess with carbon filter and replace it every 2-3 weeks. As the product say it absorbs all the organic compound in the water. I have some piece of drift wood in my tank, and the water was starting to get pretty cloudy. I insert the media in the filter and after 12 hours I could see the magical difference. The water got incredibly clear. After a week the nitrogen level went down to zero (I had NO3 at about 15ppm). The down side is that my starting water was pretty cloudy (my fault), and the product absorbed a lot of it. After two weeks the bag looks pretty brown. I think I will have to do the cleaning process pretty soon. I will wait until the bag turn completely brown, or the water start to look cloudy again. The company claim that which 100ml you can use it for up to 100 gallons for about 4 to 6 months. I think is a little bit over estimating the range. I read several review that do not trust the cleaning process using bleach, and then soak it with de-chlorinator, I will update my review once I do a cleaning cycle. Other than that I recommended this product to two of my friend that have nitrogen or cloudy water. And If it was the case I would definitely buy it again. Update 4-8-13: I have the filter in place for almost 2 month, and it still keep the water clear. My tank is currently overstock, and I have no issues at all with water quality. I did not have to replace any filter cartridge. And I have not done the regeneration process. Great product. Update 4-24-13: I was starting to get the water little bit cloudy, so I decided to do the famous regeneration process. As soon as I dip it into the bleach/water solution it turned incredibly white. I let it soak for 24 hours, then took it out and soak in the Prime/water solution for 8 hours. After I took it out it didnt smell like chlorine at all. I wasnt sure so I dip it into some water for a bit, and test the water. Zero chlorine at the end. I place it back in the filter. There are few companies out there that make really good products for aquarium. Seachem is one of the best and one that you can always trust. You get your money worth on any of their products.

> 24 hourSeachem Purigen is the only chemical filtration I ever use. It is as effective as activated carbon, but with none of the downsides. Purigen can be used for about 12 months, and after that, it can be recharged with household bleach and reused (follow instructions). It also does not clog and release harmful substances back into the water, like carbon does. Every serious aquarist should be aware of this product and use it when needed.

> 24 hourHaving had some problems with the nitrogen cycle in a couple of tanks (especially 5.5 and 10 gallon) I decided to give Purigen a try. It was AN IMMEDIATE FIX! Purigen should be included in every aquarium start-up bundle as it simplifies life for those who test their water. And for those who dont its even more important to ensure fish and plants have every opportunity to be healthy and grow. Wonderful stuff . . . !

> 24 hourI have an overstocked 60 gallon tank. Overstocking is due to fish breeding, not me buying new. To deal with this I have a canister filter and 2 HOB filters. I still struggled to keep the water quality where it needed to be. With Purigen the chemistry and clarity are awesome. I like that it changes color to show when it is full. Satisfying to see. I havent tried recharging any yet. I just keep replacing spent with fresh Purigen. I have been at the fish keeping hobby for almost 5 years with this tank. I have made many a mistake. Over time I have learned to trust Seachem products. I highly recommend them.

> 24 hourUse this in my aquarium. It has made the water crystal clear. Buy two, so when one is exhausted, you have one to put in the aquarium while you recharge the first.

> 24 hourI would have given it 5 stars but it smells so bad. Never had something come in a bag, in another bag just to keep the smell contained. It didnt fit in my Marineland Magnum Polishing Internal Canister Filter (ML90770) so I just stuck it behind my over the side filter behind the right size c cartrage. It was looking nasty so I ran it under the tap like it says in the instructions and it was clean in a matter of seconds.

> 24 hourI bought this purely to remove the tannins in my tank water that the driftwood secretes (and that causes my water to look like tea). it comes in a 100mL bag for is good for 100gal tank I believe it says. my tank isnt not even half that size (plus the bag it came in wouldnt fit right in my filter) so I cut open the packet (which you can put in your filter as is if itll fit) and put half of it in a ladys knee-high, cut off the excess and plopped it into my filter. I saved the other half so that I can switch it out when I need to regenerate the one in current use. this is the first time my water has been clear/clear of tannins for months (and by months I mean literally like 7 months). great product. id buy this again!
