I have mopani wood in my tank and it stains my water nearly red. Purigen makes my water crystal clear within hours. It’s a little on the pricier side but it’s reusable if you clean it properly

    Greater than one week

Definitely cleared up the tank but I discovered a .5 break in the bag along the seam when I removed it for its first recharge. Would explain why I had a fair amount of the media get away when I rinsed it and then media getting in the tank when I installed it. Recharging, while not difficult, literally takes days so youll probably need multiple bags and store them damp after they have been used. Allowing them to dry out after first use causes issues with the media.

yea so far it seems to be really good, i honestly havent noticed a big change in my tank as far as it is not CLEARER then it was but only because its been set up for a long time and the water stays perfect on it lol I just wanted to add this my marineland diamond blend to add a little extra crisp to it lol the fish seem happier I will say that much their always happy but they seems to be swimming a bit more then normal which is good. my dragon goby is really good and swimming around and seems to be eating more, hes already HUGE, this biggest ive seen in teh stores or in a tank period in person lol but hes older SOOOO BASCIALLY they seem to be more active and are eating more often.. twice a day instead of once now.. so yea I like it..

I had recently set up a planted tank with a driftwood piece in it. No matter what I did I could not get the driftwood to come clean per the soaking and boiling methods so I ended up using in the tank anyway and tada, lots of tannins leached out. After about 3 weeks I really got tired of the brown water and bought some of this. Cleared the water in my 10 gallon in 4 hours! The water is crystal clear and finally looks like a nice tank! It came in it’s own little pouch that you put directly into your filter housing. I gave it a quick rinse and popped in the housing. Literally just set it and forget it. Super easy.

Ive used this product for over a year and couldnt be more satisfied with how my water looks in both my aquariums. I struggled with water clarity due to bacterial blooms for no reason. I havent had that issue since.

I was skeptical at first of purchasing since Ive not heard of this product locally. Now this is a staple item for our tanks. We are so excited at the clarity of our tanks. All the hard work to clean them and money invested is now topped off by the clear water. I am amazed and do excited to find something easy that makes such a HUGE IMPACT. Love this product!!!!

I have bought this stuff for years to clear aquariums after using meds in them. I used to buy the prefilled packet and stuff it in the filter, and save for a couple that leaked from a hole in the perimeter seal of the bag, they always worked. I have bought two locally and one on Amazon. They all leak. I placed them inside a 180 micron bag--they leaked through their original package and through the 180 micron bag. After rinsing the purigen for 2 minutes before placing it in my tank, it leaked about two teaspoons. It does not stop-if I run it through a filter, it will be empty in a few hours, unless some of it is the correct size. It never used to be too small, the extra bag I use was just for protection after I had two break. very disappointing. Sick of going to fish stores. Any chance the stuff in the jug wont be so degraded? Its every bag. Id rather my fish didnt eat it.

If you own any type of tank that has a filter, this is what to get. I have this in every tank I own, from my 125 gallon turtle tank to my 5 gallon shrimp tank (trying to figure out how to put it in my 2 gallon tank as well). Its by no means a miracle cure all product, but it does make tank maintaining a lot easier and less smelly. Had to use this in a pinch (with a lot of Prime) for an uncycled 55 gallon (I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OVER CYCLING, MAKE SURE YOUR TANK IS CYCLED AND LEVELS ARE IN RANGE!!!). Anywho, instead of spending $$$ on carbon and all those other fancy ammonia eaters, buy this. Its rechargeable, when they turn black, soak in bleach, til it turns white, then soak in a dechlorinator (Prime). These do turn brown, just as long as they are not black, youre fine. 100 ml = 100 gallons. So you kind of have to do the math. They shouldnt need recharging til about month 6, depending on how stocked your tank is. I have about 500 ml (one full bottle) in my 125 gallon turtle tank (1 turtle) with my Fluval FX6 filter (turtles are dirty little creatures and she doesnt eat in her tank either) its fine so far! So much better than changing the carbon every week. I recommend this and Prime to anyone who is starting out in this hobby, turtle or fish. Although, like I said, these are by no means miracle products. They get the job done and they do it well, especially with the proper tank maintenence.

Our Fluval Spec looked like somebody had brewed tea in it! (See first picture.) Water tests were all normal; we even had the aquarium store check to make sure we hadn’t missed something. I was “cruising” Amazon aquarium media, reading the reviews as well as the descriptions, when I happened across this product. Bunny, one of the reviewers mentioned Mopani wood and tannins. (Thank you, Bunny!) We also had added Mopani wood before the problem had started, but had not made the connection. We received our bag of Purigen, rinsed it off, and added it below the Fluval filter. Two hours layer, the water was free of tannins. (See second picture) while the water in the second picture appears cloudy, it was no longer brown. In the second picture the slight cloudiness was caused by tiny suspended oxygen bubbles; reconfiguring the angle of the water return nozzles ‘cleared’ that problem. The downside: when the water was orangish-brown, our two male dwarf gouramis didn’t notice each other. When the tannins were removed, each could see the other. They started to fight so frequently, we had to re-home of slightly more aggressive one.

Does a good job of removing a lot of organic waste in the water filtration cycle.

Seachem Purigen is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at an excelled rate and capacity.
