Its a good vacuum but for what its being sold for dont buy it. There are far better robots out there. If you want to stay with Shark go with one of their LiDAR robots. They track a lot better. Pros: Self empty dock works great. No-go zones. Great suction and good pickup. Easy to maintain. Good edge tracking. Cons: Doesnt work in the dark due to being a camera system. Doesnt clean corners well. Tracking is okay at best, doesnt know where it is sometimes. App is okay, used to be worse.

UPDATED 7.13.2022: About 4 months ago, my Shark deleted the map it made of my house. Thats what it uses to efficiently clean the house and it lets you design No Vaccuum Zones such as under your table where it gets lost for hours trying to navigate chair legs, or where that rug is that is really plush and prevents the robot from getting up onto it. Anyway, Ive remapped and re-set up my rooms and no-go zones multiple times only for the app to delete them again. Ive read online that its a very common problem, but good luck getting anyone in Support to look at it. Without this functionality, its just another dumb robot. Dont waste your time buying it for the Mapping functionality. _________________________________________________________________________ Ive been rocking at Roombak 699 for many years. Three batteries, countless brushes, and a new dustbin lever later, and I knew it was time for an upgrade. I purchased this Shark unit, not really knowing what to expect. I should have done this a long time ago. Lets start with the obvious: - The Shark unit has a predictable cleaning pattern. Once it has run several times, itll create a decent map of your house. Youll want to go in and create rooms or zones so you can tell it where you want it to clean (or dont). You can also create no go zones without having to stick those infrared, battery powered units all over the place. Once this is all set up, this unit will clean your house--taking as long as it takes. For my house, that usually means going back to the home unit to dump its collector a couple of times. Every now and then, it needs to recharge. Roomba didnt do that. It would zig and zag back and forth until it ultimately just lost charge and maybe it cleaned everything, but probably not. - My Roomba was really loud. So loud, you couldnt work or watch TV or carry on a conversation with it running. My kids even asked me not to run it at night because it woke them up (and it was downstairs and they were upstairs). The Shark unit is at least half as quiet so we dont mind running it when were all here working or just putzing around. - How well does it clean? Maybe not as well, but that is made up for by the fact that it can climb over rugs and clean the entire house in one day versus maybe it takes 2-3 days with the Roomba and it gets stuck on half a dozen things, including cliffs that arent cliffs. We have a mix of hard floors and fairly thick-pile carpet. If youre wondering if its worth saving a few hundred dollars on a Shark and trying it out, you should go for it. Im glad I did.

I was disappointed of no mapping. The ad need to make it more clear.

Does the job but does get lost from time to time and dies somewhere in the house which is a pain.

Pros: I have a shedding lab and the unit works great getting the hair off the hardwood floors. It rarely gets stuck under furniture or tangled in power cords. Gets dirt and hair out from under the smallest crevasses with its front sweeper brushes. Empties itself when complete. Cons: Its a little noisy when cleaning, especially when emptying itself into the main container. The mapping system is inaccurate at times with the machine hunting for the base station for several minutes. Ill send the machine to a single room to clean, but it seams to partially clean other areas as well. Doesnt get up the dog hair thats on the rug. I bust out the large upright vac for that. In all its really worth the price and the pros far outweigh the cons. Works much better than my first robot cleaner I bought in 2017. Its like day and night better! If the mapping worked better Id give it 5 stars.

At 2 months… still works. Love the systematic cleaning pattern and self emptying feature. It continues vacuuming where it stopped to empty and returns to the charging station. Our previous robot vacuum seemed to follow us from room to room instead of completely cleaning an area.

It’s a robot vacuum. We have only laminate floors, so it works beautifully, but I doubt it would do well on carpet. The small device just doesn’t produce enough suction (in my opinion). My biggest gripe is the SharkClean app. It’s terrible. Even their website is buggy. For example, I cannot register the device with the app. I enter ask the required info but the app will not save it. It also will not send the info to their servers. I tried through the website and it requires a 15-character model number, but the model number on my device is only 10 characters, so it doesn’t work there either. There are various other settings in the app that will not save either. It’s very frustrating.

I bought this after doing a lot research. I thought it was nicely priced and had a lot of features considering the cost. It cleans very well sometimes going over the same area more than once. The self emptying is a particularly nice feature and on a cleaning run, it will often interrupt the cleaning to empty itself then start over where it left off. Its pretty good with hair as long as its not very long. I am not so sure that the bin on the base will go for 30 days as I usually empty mine after a week or at most 2 weeks. It is however not maintenance free... The filter in the robot as well as one in the base does need cleaning every now and then to maintain the great sucking power that it has and I usually take off the brush and remove the hair that is tangled there. As I have a baby in the house and hence lots of food particles on the floor, I activate the robot twice daily and clean the robot every 2 weeks though it is probably un-necessary to do it so often as the filter and brush are usually not very dirty at that time. My only negative comment is that there is no option for a remote to the best of my knowledge bearing in mind that the app to control the device doesnt work in all countries outside of the USA as I painfully found out when I tried to download the app. That unfortunately converts it from being really smart to being somewhat retarded as it learns the position of bits of furniture but if they are removed, it still avoids the area as if they were still there. I took off one star for this reason and would not recommend this particular unit if you live outside of the USA or its territories.

Bought this during a huge discount period on Amazon. Happy with the performance, but the bot will not stick to the designated schedule that we programmed in the app. It starts at the correct time, but on days that will have programmed to NOT run, or days when we DO have it programmed to run. It has a mind of its own.

In the FAQ for this advertisement it says that it has mapping. IT DOES NOT. After 2 months of letting my Shark run every day, giving it access to all of the same areas, reinstalling the app etc. I finally called Shark support and they said that any model that start with A9... does NOT have mapping abilities. In the app cleaning history you can see a map of what was cleaned but you will NOT get an interactive map to assign rooms or areas. Amazon should monitor the FAQ for accuracy and misleading information as this is why I paid a hundred dollars more for this robot over ones with similar reviews. The 3 stars is for its effectiveness otherwise. I have 5 cats and 4 small long and short hair dogs. On hard surfaces it does an amazing deep sweep job. On area rugs (low and high ply) it is like a light vacuum, not like a powerful upright but that is all I expected. I do have to clean the brushes and filters once a week but it easily accessible, not screw driver or tools needed, the cover to the brushes just pops open and push tabs. For The dust screen and air filter, I use a soft bottle brush over the sink to keep clean and when it accidentally picks up a wet hairball a wipe it with a disinfecting wipe and wash the removable parts in the sink. I dump the canister container 1x a week but have many pets, kids and a Christmas tree skirt and gifts with tons of glitter (which my cats scatter everywhere) and this little guy keeps it all cleaned up. I still run an upright vacuum a couple of times a month in the rugs for a deep clean and sweep behind and under furniture where my shark cant go but I noticed that bc I run my shark everyday those area have a huge reduction in hair and debris bc with the daily run that hair doesnt have time to blow into those areas. I used to have to sweep daily and vacuum 1-2 times a week to maintain clean floors with my pets and kids but those days are over. Now I can clean the floors as often as a normal household lol I do not think this is loud on hard or soft surfaces at all, even on maximum suction mode. I have vinyl plank floors and area rugs. My hair dryer on its lowest setting is louder than this Shark on its highest setting. Its slightly louder than someone sweeping with a broom on normal suction. That being said, you have to go into the app and manually switch it to maximum suction every time youd Shark is on a scheduled cleaning, I havent found a way to permanently set it to maximum. Pet owner advise: I scheduled my Shark to clean daily while everyone is at work and school but sometimes at night one of the cats will step on the clean button and it will start running. With my 2 story it doesnt wake anyone and thank my cats for pitching in but in a 1 story, where it may come into a room where someone is sleeping it may be a problem so you may want to turn off its power switch at night. Also, light weight food and water bowls will be relocated around the house. I have a heavier porcelain water bowl and it does not move that. A forest of dining room chair legs may cause it to temporarily get confused but as long as it has the space to get under the table and chairs it will eventually find its way out and the more often you allow it to go under your table and chairs the smarter it gets to getting out when its done. Try not to feel sorry for the little guy and help it out, it has to learn on its own. Brain development comes with time, repetitive actions, and experience. Alexa users: say tell Shark to clean or go dock and you have to have a whole conversation to do that: (my sharks name is Jonny 5) Alexa, tell Shark to go dock Your Robot name please? Jonny 5 Alright, your robot is on its way to dock lol but it works
