I purchased this lens to replace a similar Sigma lens that I have had for over a decade. The improvements to autofocus and image color were immediately noticeable. We live in South Florida and have a series of small, inter-connected waterways that attract many different types of birds. This offers a year-round opportunity for bird photography literally in my own backyard. Using a monopod and the lens extended to 600 mm (960 mm effective focal length on my Canon EOS Rebel T2i which does not have a full-size image sensor) allows me to get close to my subjects, even a small bird like the Palm Warbler which is visiting us here during its winter migration. I highly recommend this lens!

Lente veramente buona, abbinata ad una Canon EOS 90D riesce a scattare foto veramente molto belle. Non è leggero, questo va detto. Stiamo sui 2.5 Kg di obiettivo circa, che in aggiunta al corpo macchina diventa faticoso tenerle in mano per molte ore, consigliato sicuramente un treppiede di quelli resistenti. Nonostante arrivi a una lunghezza di 600mm laberrazione cromatica è quasi nulla. Purtroppo la velocità di messa a fuoco non è elevatissima, soprattutto intorno ai 5/600 mm ma sicuramente molto buona. Lascio alcuni scatti effettuati finora. Lente utilizzata per fotografia sportiva e naturalistica.

I wanted a big lens primarily for photographing birds, but wasnt prepared to fork out thousands of pounds for one. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Professional looking lens, and superb quality images so far. Although Ive only been using the lens for a couple of days, I can see the potential of this lens. AF works fine with my Nikon D5100, and small adjustments can easily be made with the manual override. I attach a monopod to take the weight off the camera mount and for ease of carrying, but got some good handheld images without a monopod or tripod. Overall, Im very pleased with this purchase.

I had my eyes on this lens for quite sometime, and am so glad that I made the purchase. I mainly use this lens for wildlife photography, and at my kids baseball games (easy shooting from the stands or down the foul lines). The build quality is great by my standard, the durable heavy duty plastic used in the Contemporary version is certainly tough. While it is not as fast or as sharp as some of the top of the line prime or other mega zooms (i.e., Canon EF 600mm, 500mm or 400mm USM lenses, or the EF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6L IS II USM, etc.), it is significantly cheaper, so for me the way lower price point more than makes up for the slight drop in speed/sharpness. I cant comment on how it compares optically to the Tamron G2 150-600, but the Sigma it is cheaper by at least a few hundred so to me it was an easy choice.
