Sigma 150-600mm 5-6.3 Contemporary DG OS HSM Lens for Canon

I had the full range of Canon EOS lenses (10-18mm, 18-55mm, 55-250mm) and when I started off on bird photography, I was struggling with the reach. After deep research and cost-benefit analysis, I zeroed in on this lens.

I really enjoy using this lens. Makes shooting wildlife enjoyable giving me some stretch but not being as bulky as L lenses and the sort. I use this moslty on a gimbal head. The bulkiness prevents this lens from being fun on most ballheads. I recommend, as it was to me, get the 100mm swiss plate if you dont have one. Can help make balancing easier.

My wife rented this lens for many years when we would take trips. Takes GREAT pics.

While the Sigma 150-500 I owned previously had front focus issues (fixed in camera), this new 150-600s focus is spot on.

Bought this lens mostly for bird photography. Very pleased with lens performance esp at this price. Canon grey lens would be about 5 times as much. Attached pictures were taken resting lens on car door, no tripod. Fast focus using EOS 1D Mark IV. Excellent color and image stability. I would recommend this lens to anyone who wants a 150-600mm lens at reasonable price.
