Ok.. I had a late 2014 Mac Mini that was a decent machine, but slow as dog running through a foot of mud, so it did not get much use and sat there. When I saw this option, I decided to give the Mac one last try to see if I can bring it back to life. I got this adapter, a Seagate 2TB FireCuda Hybrid (to replace to the slow Fusion drive) and a WD SN570 NVMe way to fast 250GB drive. I wanted to use the NVMe for OS/Apps and the FireCuda for data (Pictures, videos, music, etc). I started by backing everything up and learning how to replace the actual HDD, then I added this adapter and the NVMe. I did a fresh install of the OS (Monterey) and then after it went through setup and got to login screen.. Whole new worlds opened up.

My installation was a bit more complicated as I had a 1TB fusion drive with bad HDD. I had to buy a tool kit and gut the entire Mac Mini and remove both drives from the drive bay. In fact the built in SSD portion had to be sliced out with a razor blade. The new M.2 holder fit perfectly on top of the empty drive bay. I added the new 500 GB M.2 drive and closed up the machine. From there you can boot to a screen called Internet Recovery, which operates independently of any hard drive. Internet Recovery allowed me to format the new M.2 drive and install Big Sur OS.

This actually works exactly as advertised with the Late 2014 Mac Mini that has only an HHD or SSD. This adaptor allows instillation of a PCiE SSD as well and greatly improves performance of the machine. I thought going from disk to solid-state was a difference, but this upgrade makes an even greater improvement. Plus I saved some dollars by not having to buy an Apple blade drive but instead could purchase a standard one by Samsung or whoever.

Worked perfectly with my 2014 MacMini. Now Ive got a ssd boot drive and I didnt need to disassemble it nearly as much.

I bought an SSD and used this adapter card to upgrade my Mac Mini. Dont forget the correct screwdriver for the screws on the bottom of the case. No joke...I was torn down, upgraded, and booted back up in less than TEN minutes. Super easy upgrade even if youre a novice.

I have a mac mini 2014. It came only with an HDD, with this device youll be able to dramatically improve the speed of your Mac. As it mention on the description only work for Mac OS HiSierra or up. my hdd failed, so i bought a SATA SSD and a nvM2 SSD, I installed first the OS on the SATA SSD, then I reinstalled the OS on the nvme2 SSD.

Easy upgrade, placed SSD in adapter, peeled attached adhesive backing off, placed in Mac Mini, slipped NVME SSD in the adapter, screwed in, closed it up, formatted and installed Mac OS Catalina, and done. Been working great. No issues.
