SP 1TB SSD 3D NAND A55 SLC Cache Performance Boost SATA III 2.5 7mm (0.28) Internal Solid State Drive (SP001TBSS3A55S25)

Purchased six of these drives for use in building out an all-flash TrueNAS box. Ive got several of the 1TB version that Ive used with some pretty limited success, they seem to work fine on SCALE but are a bit temperamental so far on CORE. Physical installation is no different than any other drive of this size/form factor. The caveat here is that I seemed to have received drives with two different underlying hardware builds. Three of the six drives report in as 1.82 TiB, the other three are reporting in as 1.86 TiB. Not the end of the world ending up with mismatched vdev sizes, but not what one should need to expect or plan for when buying multiples of one item from a single listing.

My 4 stars are because Ive had a 2TB SSD have performance issues, after using for a couple of weeks - I believe due to internal heating. Amazon accepted the return and the replacement has been perfect - it happens. I would not hesitate to by Silicon Power storage devices in the future as my experience with them has been good.

It seems to work fine for a PS4, but truth be told, some of the other critical reviews have it right. It can bottom out, especially on the write speed. I used Borderlands 3, with all DLC, as a benchmark. The boot time when starting the game with a mechanical hard drive used to be get up and make yourself a sandwich level of load time. Easily a 7+ minute experience - with this, its about 3.5 minutes. However, downloading and installing games? Woof, that was a chore. In a PS4 Pro, on a reliably fast internet connection, downloading a 60 Gb game took 6 hours. And seeing as the internet speed test showed 100mbs download speed... It wasnt the internet causing the bottleneck. Its a decent budget option.

I bought this to replace an old HDD that failed. I was looking for a cheap realiable SSD to store photos, videos and maybe some videogames. I read some of the reviews and decided to go with this one, and so far it has performed great with no issues at all. I dont think a common user would notice the difference in read/write speed with more expensive alternatives.

First time buying this item. Feels very cheap, all plastic and very light. Well, lets see how it does. Thats why a 4 stars. If it last Ill come back and give 5 stars or 1 star if it fails.

Im very happy I purchased this hard drive. It has given me more space and allowed my laptop to work faster and more efficiently.
