22-11-2024I realize that this is an inexpensive tool for beginners. But I also read reviews from experienced lino cutters that they really like this tool. I hate it. First of all, when using it as a palm tool (fitting the rounded end into the palm to push the blade across the lino) the screw lid keeps coming off and all the blades fall out. Ive already lost one blade that took me two days to find. Second, they lose their sharpness very quickly. Ive been using it for two days and already the small V tool is dull. Since you have to buy new blades all the time you might as well spend a little extra money and get a few decent tools. I cant afford the really expensive tools, but I spent around $40 for four Mikisyo Power Grip tools and they are much superior. You have to sharpen them so you also need to buy a whet stone or slip strop, but its well worth it for the longevity, ease of use and MUCH better cutting. Oh, and the blade screw comes loose while you are cutting, and the blades get stuck and I have to pull them out with pliers. Other than that........

> 3 dayIm not sure if it was just mine but the pieces wouldnt fit correctly and either would keep falling out, or getting stuck in the handle.

Greater than one weekThis Speedball Cutter is such fun to use to carve your own rubber stamps. I just watched some videos on line and got the gist of how to do it. At first I thought it was easier said than done. But after a few tries, I love it. Have already made 3 stamps. I tried a very detailed drawing first which I do NOT recommend doing. Start out simple and you will enjoy your Speedball Cutter more and not get discouraged. I bought some dollar store erasers to carve, they are made of rubber, hence a rubber stamp. Lots of fun~

> 3 dayI used this product to etch a pumpkin. I was loving how well it worked, until I went to change nibs to the size #1. To my dismay, the base of the nib that is inserted into the cutter was broken on one side--this made insertion tricky. I could get it in, but it was almost impossible to tighten it so that it would not wiggle. I was not able to use nib #1 to do any fine lines.

> 3 dayThe cutter assortment arrived within one day. My daughter needed them for a high school art assignment that involves carving linoleum and then making prints. Her teacher sent me this link and thats how I came to purchase this specific brand. It is the same set she uses at school and works exactly the same way. So if you are carving linoleum and making prints, this will do the job.

> 3 dayI bought this set at the last minute knowing I had the same set somewhere in my storage. I needed to use it for pumpkin carving and didnt have time to go through boxes. I have to say that the quality is tried and true over the years. I bought my first set 30 years ago for linoleum printing (wooden handled) and have used it for other things as well over the years. I bought another set ten years ago to teach a class and the quality was still there and now this set also. I bought the same set again because I knew it would work for pumpkin carving and the price isnt expensive.

> 3 dayI dont usually find the need to review products Ive purchased on Amazon... I know, I know... If the vendors could give me a rating based strictly on my reliability to leave a review, I would have negative stars! BUT... I love this thing so darn much... And I read most of the comments/ reviews and rely pretty heavily on what customers have experienced with the products... So I want anyone whos thinking about using this to know it is amazing! I purchased my cutter last year, in hopes of creating my own rubber stamp... And while that was a total disaster... I have found the only fault was user error and not the product itself... This year I was in awe of the loads upon loads of photos on Pinterest of etched pumpkins... I know how to etch glass, and have tools just for that... But I immediately thought of this tool to try out. It worked phenomenally... Now if i could just find more assortments of different blades or maybe a loop to lock into this bad boy then I would be in heaven!

> 3 dayIt’s so low quality that it can’t grip its own blades or gets indefinitely stuck. I bought once and it fell apart in the first use. Bought another an it fell apart in the first use. The price is tempting but you will pay more in the long run. Not usable for even practice because it becomes unusable so quickly
