A nice set to use on Speedball carving blocks, however Id like to have those blades sharper than they are. Minus one star for the blade stuck in the socket. It took me a lot of time and nerve to remove it without breaking the cutter and cutting myself.

I used it and it was very easy to carve with. Comes with a nice selection of craving tool attachments.

this is an awesome tool for carving, the blades are really sharp and I’ve very rarely had a problem with them getting stuck and when they do they come out with a little wiggle! i use them for carving my little stamps but I don’t think this would be good for woodwork or really anything that’s not soft like rubber. if your nub gets stuck inside you can easily unscrew the whole ball mechanism and it will come right out, felt like I needed to write this review because there was so many negative reviews but I love it! I almost didn’t order because of the reviews but I’ve been using it for a good two weeks now and never really got frustrated with it at all. The nibs are sharp and i have cut myself with them but thats 99% my fault as i am a clumsy ditz so dont gift it to children (or klutzy adults) :p

Box was a bit crumpled when it arrived- wasnt packages very well. But its a hard plastic tool its durable. That was my only complaint, since I was planning to store it in the box but now it doesnt stay closed.

product is not as substantial as the ones they used to make, but isnt that they way it is with most things.

Bits are a bit difficult to install but hold steady once in place. I have 3 sets and use them for carving detailed features on linoleum mosaics I create. The rigging on the ship was created with the Speedball.

This is a great price for beginners looking to start relief without investing in expensive tools right out the gate. My only concern, and I think its a pretty important one, is that the pieces are constantly getting jammed in the handle and its almost impossible to get them out. Ive used a wrench, 3in1 oil, etc. to make this less of an event, but it happens too often. This can be extremely frustrating when carving. You might as well spend the $25 on powergrip tools.

This is a great little cutter for the price. The #1 tip is a lot finer than other products which really makes it a five-star product, but the uncomfortable plastic housing and temperamental chuck makes it a four-star overall. Its infinitely better than other lino cutters that are more readily available in hobby stores or art stores here in the UK.

I bought this set at the last minute knowing I had the same set somewhere in my storage. I needed to use it for pumpkin carving and didnt have time to go through boxes. I have to say that the quality is tried and true over the years. I bought my first set 30 years ago for linoleum printing (wooden handled) and have used it for other things as well over the years. I bought another set ten years ago to teach a class and the quality was still there and now this set also. I bought the same set again because I knew it would work for pumpkin carving and the price isnt expensive.
