Seems like a decent deal. Be aware, do not use the screw assembly the send! They do not stay in the square holes, they pop out the back, then if you w as nt yo ever remove the unit from the rack, the screa strips into the nut assembly then you cant get it out. I even tried vise grips to grab the nut from the backside, it was impossible to grab the nut, too tight of space. I tried everything. But eventually, the ears on my dbx compressor took too much stress and broke off. Huge loss for a nut that probably only cost a penny. Anyways, buy aftermarket assemblies before screwing in your units....

Residential network where I pulled string out of the walls using a robust, antiquated phone line network, replaced with Cat6 throughout. This is definitely the right size rack for any home network that has or will eventually have wired ports, network storage and/or security cameras. Overkill if youre doing less than 6-10 network drops, or have a full pile of rack-able home theater equipment (might be too small in that case). As others have mentioned, the cross bar is mounted in a way thats convenient for the manufacturer to ship, but you SHOULD plan on flipping or reversing the cross bar to suit your needs. There are pre-drilled holes top and bottom of the unit, so mine is re-mounted upside down on the bottom of the rack, so as not to conflict with a rack power strip, and to free up space at the top for a rack shelf. I would agree with others, too, that say its plenty robust without, once you have a few devices mounted. YMMV.

Needed to replace a wall mounted amp and this worked perfect with the rack mounted amp that replaced it!

Bought this for the new house as all our wiring goes to the basement. Was able to install this easily and added some shelving (1U 10 inches deep) for the other networking devices. Keeps things clean and easy to use. After installation and adding the shelves I removed the cross beam on the top as I needed the space and it didnt change the structure at all. Cable organization isnt great with this device but its in the corner in the basement and zip ties are your friend!

I recently purchased a house and decided I was going to run ethernet all throughout it. I put in around 40 ports (which might seem excessive for a 3 bedroom house under 1200 square feet but can you ever be TOO connected?). I needed a basic IDF to connect all the ports to, but didnt want to pay for or deal with the side of a full rack. This little 6U guy worked perfectly! I have a tray on top, two patch panels, a 48 port switch and a rack mounted PDU... and still have one U to spare! Im thinking of putting in a camera system as well as whole home audio. When I do, this unit will be a little too small, but so far I like it so much that Im considering just buying a 2nd one. The unit is very sturdy and looks pretty slick with its black powder coating. I dont think much could possibly go wrong with this thing, although I do wish that it came with a few more rack nuts.

The drywall anchors are cheap plastic ones that were obviously stored in a hot warehouse, because they cracked and fell apart. After buying metal 100 lb rated drywall anchors, its not going anywhere. The product itself is great and pretty heavy duty metal. My only concern is the lack of M6 cage nuts and bolts. I did not receive them, as advertised with the product. Its not a big deal, as they are cheap to purchase separately. Just make sure to buy your own screws/nuts/bolts and dont rely on the ones promised with the product.

Ive spent a decade designing and building various sized racks of computer equipment. I didnt need much for my home network setup but also didnt want to pay an arm and a leg for one either. This was super affordable, had U locations on both rails, included mounting hardware, and is more than sturdy enough. One complaint is the support rail used on top or bottom of rack does cut into the top/bottom U location, so if mounting 3 2U servers, it likely would give you issues.

Recent versions of this have the holes 16-inches on center for stud-mounting and it makes a difference. Extremely sturdy for my shallow depth networking equipment.

I was looking for a small rack to mount my keystone panel and rackmount switch and to allow for future expansion of my home network without buying a bigger rack. This rack from StarTech proved to be a great solution. It comes with holes and hardware to wall-mount this item but also a bag full of cage nuts and screws to rackmount plenty of network equipment. I was originally gonna give this item 5 stars but I decided to dock a star for not supporting rackmount cases. I planned on installing a 2U rackmount case into this rack for a computer that will function as an NVR for a future surveillance system, but this rack isnt deep enough. Otherwise, you cant go wrong with this 12U rack from a great company.
