05-06-2025I absolutely love the feel of the paper and the hardback. This is great for sketches, and the texture is great for multiple media types. I keep this close by, and sketch in it whenever I can. I cant wait to fill it up! Its really a good product, and I will probably buy another when I have finished with this one.

> 3 dayThe bound book is fine. The quality of the pages are fine. The number of pages is way to little.

> 3 dayIve 95% filled this journal with watercolor art. This will be my go-to watercolor paper from now on. There is something magical about the way that the pigment dances across the page - probably due to the 100% cotton. I use a lot of water and the pages do buckle a bit, which doesntbother me. And the journal doesnt lay completely flat, which is usually a deal-breaker, but I just use some clips to keep the paper down while working. Im happy to overlook those minor issues for the paper quality. I prefer this paper over the same weight (and more expensive) Arches. As you can see from my photo, the pages work for collage as well.

> 3 dayI love the weight and look and feel of this journal. But I hate how it fails to take watercolor. The pages had a waxy or oily coating in places, that created a resist to the watercolor. This was insanely frustrating. Also, the machine texturing of the paper is very noticeable under washes. I ended up with the global arts journal and the moleskin watercolor journals, and loved them both. It was such a pity this one failed.

> 3 dayI got several of these journals at a ridiculously discounted price on Amazon - the bargain of the century. And I’m enjoying them because I got them for such a tiny price. If I’d paid regular price I’d have been disappointed, however. The booklet isn’t that sturdy - it’s soft cover so as you use it the binding shifts. Which means it doesn’t close nicely after a couple of uses. If you’re painting on both sides of the paper you’re painting on the back side of the paper half the time; and with this quality of paper (Not cotton rag) both sides are not equal. There’s a front side for painting and a back side for not painting. You can definitely tell the difference between the two and how the paper performs with the pigment. There’s a nice cold press side (good side) and a kind of weird almost fabric textured back side (not great). For the bargain basement price I paid for these journals I hit the lottery. At regular price there are much better watercolor journals out there for a few bucks more (moleskine, for example). I wouldn’t purchase these strathmore at regular price.

> 3 dayThis journal will seriously take any media. Ive painted water color and acrylic and used pens and markers. Ive never had a notebook that was so durable and would actually take any medium. I have other paper that claims to be all-medium / mixed-medium but this is the first one that actually does what it says. I am going to be purchasing this journal for a long time and I would recommend it to any artist looking for a new sketchbook. Its a little pricey but so worth the money. I cannot wait to get another one.
