I absolutely love Strathmore products and this one is no different. The paper is smooth and easy to blend on. It is a large sketchbook and great for drawing portraits and landscapes. Would highly recommend.

It was unexpectedly dark. Close to paper bag color. It is tough to see pencil writing.

Thinner than I thought to be honest and it looks like theres all kinds of white smudges on the back cover of the one I received that wont come off. Never buying again.

Very sturdy and good Looking . There are versions that have a pen/pencil holder that one might consider more useful but I enjoy this version for its size and feel when keeping notes.

I like a lot of Strathmores products, but this isnt one of them. It is billed as sketch, and for pencil and ballpoint pen it seems fine. Anything else and it is pretty horrible. Even quickly writing with a brush pen or fountain pen spells trouble on this paper. Its beautifully bound and looks great, but if you want to do anything besides simply pencil, I would look elsewhere. Cansons Universal Sketch for instance can hold up to much (much much much) more than this paper can. Handling it, it seems very nice, but once you start using it, the paper doesnt seem like its the 60# its billed as.

I have been buying this series sketchbook for a while. Still doesn’t let me down. High quality.

I love these journals. I have a big hardbound journal as well as this for smaller projects. It takes water and paint like a charm too with hardly any warping of the page, and I can use both sides of these pages also. Some people might not be a fan of the texture of the paper though, sometimes it can be a little weird. But all in all, one of the best papers Ive tried.

The Strathmore 500 Series Mixed Media Hardbound Art Journal contains paper that is internally sized for wet media with a durable vellum finish for drawing techniques. Excellent for watercolor, gouache, acrylic, graphite, pen, ink, colored pencil, marker, pastel, and collage. This paper is 100% cotton, archival grade and is lignin and acid free. Hardbound Art Journals have a lightly-textured, matte cover in dark chocolate brown and feature a durable Smyth-sewn binding, allowing pages to lay flatter.
