Strathmore 566-5 500 Series Hardbound Mixed Media Art Journal, 5.5 x 8.5, White, 32 Count

I adore the paper but the only very minor problem was the book wouldnt stay open. This was solved by using clips to keep it open and cloth so the book and pages didnt get damaged

I was aware that the item would be in very good condition and not in new condition and therefore I couldnt expect it to look pristine... but yall... it was disgusting lmaooo luckily I was able to wipe down the dirty a** cover with a wet wipe, however repairs to the material of the cover itself wont be as easy. The edges are pretty roughed up and uneven. Though, for as wretched as the outward appearance is, the inside seems rather pristine which was a nice surprise considering my first impression of the product lol As for the product itself, Ill keep you updated cus I have a ways to go in my current sketchbook before I try this one out. The whole reason I got it is because I know from personal experience that Strathmore paper is great quality at a low price. With this specific sketchbook, Id heard plenty of good things so Im excited to try it out! (And I will definitely be decorating the outside)

This sketchbook! OMG. I’ve been using moleskin for a while now but this sketchbook came up when searching for mixed media sketchbooks, and since I was looking to use it for acrylics and water soluble oils, after reading the description I decided to go for it. This sketchbook took everything like a CHAMP! Acrylic AND OIL without any priming! and it didn’t even transfer over to the back of the page. incredibly impressed. Super smooth pages. Doesn’t lay as flat as I wish but I will try the softbound sketchbook next.

I have used Strathmore products for years and have never been disappointed in the quality of their items. The 5.5x8.5 hardbound sketchbook has been my constant companion as a journal for about 9 years now. I used to use ruled journals but this simple blank sketchbook offers much more flexibility in my writing. The size makes it easy to carry around in my purse, small backpack or laptop case. It is discreet and professional looking. The pages are quality 60lb acid-free paper with a little bit of tooth which makes for a nice drawing experience. As a museum professional I am always interested in the longevity and durability of the media I use for my personal journals. Many of the books sold as journals are poorly bound. Before I began using Strathmore books, the other books would fall apart well before I finished filling them up. The binding of this Strathmore hardbound consists of 6 signatures sewn through the fold and glued together. It easily opens up completely flat. I have filled up 5 or 6 of these little books now and they have held up very well under daily use. They have become a catch-all for notes, to-do lists, random thoughts, reminders, brainstorms and doodles. Although they are useful, my computer and multi-media phone just do not offer the same satisfying experience of putting pencil to paper.

The cover of this book is excellent quality. It feels and looks fantastic. The paper I found wanting. 60lb paper, for some reason, is different thicknesses even across this brand. This book has paper that feels thin and flimsy unfortunately. Its a big toothy as well. There ARE NOT 192 pages in this book. There are 96. Since paper is sold in single sheets, I fail to see why sketchbook sheets are counted as 2. Completely false advertising and product description. I bought this book specifically for its page count, ignoring the price, and Im very disappointed.

Me encantó, la calidad del papel es muy buena, no se transpasa a la otra hoja, puedes hacer tus aguadas sin que se pase al otro lado. Lo volvería a comprar sin duda

This item is 48 pages only if you count both sides of the page...but if you want to tear a page out to frame you will only be using one of the sides, hence 24 pages only if you are thinking some of the sketches might be worth framing. I was very disappointed about that. On the other hand the quality of this paper is sturdy enough for mixed media and has the perfect amount of sizing to accept most media without soaking in and bleeding or too much size which would lead to too easy pooling.

This is a big, beautiful book! I love doing art journaling, watercolor, acrylic painting, & collaging in it! It arrived on time & in good condition!
