Strathmore 566-5 500 Series Hardbound Mixed Media Art Journal, 5.5 x 8.5, White, 32 Count

This is a great watercolour paper, doesnt buckle and takes washes well. A little hard to lay flat. Very happy, will purchase again.

The only reason I am giving this great Sketch Book 4-Stars is that I thought it was 192 sheets meaning 384 pages. This Sketch Book has an amazing quality and worth the price even it does not have 192 sheets. I will 100% buy this sketch book again.

Love this mix media art journal!! Love that it’s a hard back so it’s not flimsy at all which makes is great for traveling or drawing on the go. The paper is extremely thick which is wonderful if you use a lot of watercolors or something that’s ink intensive. For markers it absorbs it very well. Very little bleeding. This is also incredible for the price! Plus it’s 48 pages which makes me feel more accomplished when I finish this book. Rather than your usual 200 page which I feel like I never fully fill out. The size is wonderful too, not too big not too small! The only flaws is that the paper only comes in tones grey or this off cream type color. There’s not an option for just plain white paper. I wish there was an option for just plain paper but it’s fun to experiment with the tones grey that I choose, it’s different! The other issue is that, the paper is SO thick that the pages do not lay flat, you have to have a paper weight or something similar to kinda keep the pages from collapsing in on you. Which isn’t a deal breaker for me Other than that, I’d definitely buy this art journal again!!

I ended up returning this because it didn’t have micro-perforations to make the pages easy to tear out. I had to really think about it though because it’s a very nice book, super affordable for 192pages, with really nice paper in it.

Works really nice with prisma color pencils

This is a perfect product for art journaling where a person wants to use wet media like watercolor as well as paper collage, oil pastels, etc. It is 140 lb. paper. While the smaller size of this journal is workable, my last one was 5x7 with a vertical orientation. The binding is strong and I havent had pages come loose. This journal is workable.

Karen Campbell recommended this to use for mixed media. The pages are thick and it is able to take collage, paints, inks. It also works well for its intended purpose - watercolours. I think I have found the size that works well for me - this is it 8.5 x 11
