We have a long, narrow house with very poor WiFi connections except at the end where the router is located. After installing this system, with its three repeaters, our connection is now very good throughout the house and I was able to connect a smart irrigation controller that is located on the outside, at the opposite end of the house from the router. It also improved the connection to our Ring Doorbell. Setup was very easy.

Solid system. Zero drops. I did make a firmware update once upon setup and they were way out of date so make sure you do that. Whole house and yard coverage with 3 routers.

First the description here does not explain that the only network topology supported out of the box by this set is daisy chained. If you are not able to daisy chain these you need to buy extra equipment not included in the box. Second the app to control them leaves much to be desired. Personally I would prefer a web interface rather than an app for my phone. I dont like being forced to install any app on my phone as each app is a privacy and security concern. Further the Parental Controls in the app are very poor. What if your child has multiple devices? A chromebook for school, an old cell phone that only has wifi Internet access, and a Nintendo switch? Well if they use their school chromebook all day that hourly usage counts against all of their wifi time. If they accidentally leave a device on overnight, all of their wifi time can be gobbled up and then they have to ask you for more. Sure you say. But you cant just give them an addition hour for the day, you have to increase their time policy for every day. Then later when they are done go back in and reset it to what you wanted it to be. Basically instead of set and forget you are now forced be constantly administering the Parental Control time policy many times throughout the day. I would not recommend these to parents. Other folks without kids might be fine with them, as long as you dont care about random companies installing apps on your phone.

Ive struggled for almost 2yrs with crappy internet access, due to a different wifi extender, had the cable company out multiple times to address the issue to no avail. A private company came and figured it out in no time and recommend a mesh network, a different brand but this one was cheaper and had better reviews, it works great and now the wife is happy. I was not compensated in any way for this review

Ok, so I am switching from the Apple Airport Extreme and Airport Express combination. These older systems acted like these mesh networks, but they were very early versions of them. As my buddy said, Give em a try, since the technology has probably improved. So, I bought these. I bought this set because 1) It was the most inexpensive 3 pack I could find, important because next year there is a new security system coming; and 2) It had 3 units and I wanted to use 3 instead of 2 units to make sure my 2,100 sq ft. L-shaped (it is more like a Batwing B2 bomber, but we will go with the L) has really good coverage. And I have radio frequency saturation at the same time, it has to do with the physics of my houses location, but I get ALL of the neighborhoods WiFi signals in my home. The box is delivered in its own product box, which could be tempting to porch thieves, but we had no issue with this personally, so up to you to put inside another box (I would). Unpacking was simple. As a matter of fact, SIMPLE is the name of the game here. Download and install the DECO App which is available for both iOS (mine) and Android. Take out all three M5 units, pick one and take it over to the modem/router from your provider. Start the app and follow the installation instructions, which go like this: Unplug everything. Plug in all of the wires and power supplies for everything. Turn it on. (I found it works better if you turn the router on first and THEN turn on the M5) Wait. When the blue light turns green, the app will tell you everything is good to go. After installing the first one, I had to reconfigure it to just an AP (access point), since I use the service providers Router for DHCP and NAT (has to due with Xbox Ones). I did some preliminary testing and all looked good so moved on to the living room. Using the app you tell it you have an additional M5 unit using the + circle button at the top, follow the instructions, which consists of fewer steps than the first one. Once this unit is connected up and online the light turns green. Have more units, rinse, repeat. I have 3 so one more time for me. The third unit had a small power disruption when I turned on my computer, but after it rebooted it was fine. Cons: Does not have the control of having a web-based router interface. So, if you need more advanced things, you will probably not like the lack of control. This point is not for most of us as we are not all network engineers. Pros: Very EASY to install and WORKS! Works well so far! If it fails withing my 30 day window it will be going back, but I am very pleased with this system after 1 day of use! System: Service Provider Router (non-broadcasting WiFi) using DHCP and NAT with some reserved IP addresses. 3 M5 Deco AC1300 units broadcasting everything, 2.4GHz and 5GHz and they just updated the app to include switches to turn these freq. on/off, so kudos to them for making the app more robust. However, if they are going to put more and more control in the app, please put those under ADVANCED settings! Everything else is pretty straight-forward! Thanks and Good Luck!

I dont write product reviews often. This product deserves it. Setup for all 3 of the units was, I wouldnt say absent of issues, but every issue was indicated clearly and accurately on the app. I always get a bit antsy getting involved with wi-fi networking, because it sometimes means youre down a rabbit hole for an hour or two. This was a breeze. Everything just worked in very short order. The app is nice. Coverage is very, very good. Highly recommend.

We now have reliable wifi throughout the house. Setup was very easy and it hasnt missed a beat since. I particularly like the option to hard wire a couple of devices to each node. We are streaming TV and radio as well as connecting phones, tablets, computers and smart devices. Were not even aware of this system, which is exactly how it should be. The units are small, quite smart and easy to hide away when you want them out of sight.

My old asus router had good reception in half of a two story rather old house but the other half less so and none at all at the furthest bedroom which has always been a dead zone. (The corners of most rooms are reinforced with metal.) I had a wifi extender placed on the landing right outside that one bedroom. It was slow, unreliable, and connected devices like chromecasts or Google home minis would frequently screw up and hang in that room. So I decided to get a set of deco m5 to spread out around the house. Setup initially had some hiccups on the phone app but after turning off wifi, restarting the deco, and leaving my phone paired to it via Bluetooth only, it went smoothly and detected my internet settings. Adding each additional deco took less than a minute to configure each. All devices connected to the new wifi without a hitch. Took about two hours to setup, download new firmware, and change over a dozen devices to the new network. Have had zero issues with 2.4ghz devices like security cameras and smart speakers. One of my main concerns was whether to connect my computer located on the second floor directly to the main deco (right below it on the first floor) via wifi or to use another deco upstairs. I have a NAS attached to the main deco I want to access, along with the cable modem. On my old asus router, I could access the NAS through windows explorer on my computer with transfer speeds around 35MB/s. When I tested it out with the new network I was only getting 9MB/s. Turns out instead of connecting to the main deco that was right below it, the computer was connecting to the deco in the adjacent room. I unplugged that deco. Now I was getting 15MB/s from the main deco, which was located in the same place as my old asus router. A far cry from 35MB/s. I took the unplugged deco and placed it in the same room as the computer. 25MB/s. Then I plugged it directly to the computer with an ethernet cable. 60MB/s. So apparently being hardwired to a satellite deco that wirelessly connects to the main deco is much faster than connecting wirelessly to the main deco from farther away. Either the mesh connection between deco units is way stronger than to client devices, or having it hardwired bypasses a lot of overhead as well as the poorly designed wifi on my computer. I used my phone to test out the roaming between decos. I could get around 10MB/s walking around the house transferring from my NAS, even in the deadzone bedroom. This is about average speed on a smartphone with only a single antenna. I took a star off because of the overall shorter range of the internal antennae for each deco compared to a larger router with external antennae, as well as the lack of controls in the deco app. You cant choose which deco a device should prioritize connecting to, or whether you want to connect to 2.4ghz or 5ghz. There is an option to turn the mesh protocol off for individual clients, but what deco they ultimately connect to is still random. There might be more options as the newest update introduces a web interface.

Ive been looking at mesh systems for awhile. I stumbled onto this product and was impressed with all the solid reviews. It went on sale and I pulled the trigger. I use Verizon FIOS as my Internet provider. My service is 100/100 and consists solely of Internet service, no phone, no TV. My prior config was a TP-Link AC1200 router. It was connected to the Verizon router in AP mode. The router provided good coverage at 2.4GHz but the 5Ghz band was essentially useless due to weak and unreliable signal. The installation of the Deco M5 was a breeze. The app guided me through the process flawlessly. The only modification I had to make was to run the Deco M5 in AP mode. After installation I went all over my house (2 stories and 2400 sg feet) and tested my Internet speed. I now get full 100/00 Mbps in every corner of every room. I highly recommend the Deco M5.

Purchased six Deco-5 units to increase my wifi in and around the perimeter of my house (stucco) for security camera connections... work very well as a unit, increasing signal strength and extending to outside accessories. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to do the same. Simple, plug and play install...

Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications along with the number of connected devices were defined according to test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not, and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition. MU-MIMO capability requires both the mesh system and client devices to support MU-MIMO.
