  • My husband buys everything

Update: Its been several weeks now and not one issue. Highly recommend. These just work!!!! The set up was easy and quick via the software and the signal is strong. I bought two of these to cover the house and have them back-fed via hard wire to the router. Installed the controller software on a PC I use as a nas and it just works. After a little tweaking I got all devices to connect at 5g and the two that are 2.4g connected fine. Beats the crap Hawkins Tech 5g APs I had which are waiting for the garbage truck. Time will tell if these stand the test of time but so far so good. They are over kill for home use but they came to the same price as the Deco units TP-Link sells and these are Biz class. I like the flexibility as Im a network tech and dont need to be lead by the nose like non-tech ppl. Initial impressions are Im impressed!!!!

We tried another product and we werent pleased so we bought this one. So much better. We ran ethernet from our 1st floor living room, up into attic, and then mounted this to the ceiling in a closet of our 2nd floor. Went from having weak signal in our upstairs bedrooms (form our router), to have full signal from from this access point. Speeds are great. Coverage is great. We havent used the app a ton but it works well. Can confirm that you can set the green light on or off, via the app. Install / mounting to ceiling was very simple.

Great wireless AP. Consistently get very fast speeds. Paired with 4 total EAP245 my home network is great. I run the Omada controller software on an Ubuntu VM.

I bought the AC1750 two pack to extend the wireless signal through out my house. My current tri-band router which is in the basement just wasnt giving good signal on the second floor and with two of us working from home it was becoming an issue. I installed one of these in the basement below the living room and the other in the hall on the second floor. I used the Omada software (free to download) on an existing media server. Setup was painless one time through to put in all of the SSIDs, passwords and make a group. Then just add the APs to the group and you are done. Very easy. They have been in use for two weeks now. Streaming video, WiFi calling, video conferencing, and your standard internet fare all work flawlessly. No bandwidth issues what so ever with two people using five device and streaming audio. Signal strength is very good. I get a connection in my garage which is over 50 away from the house. Granted the speed is slower but thats to be expected at that range with brick walls between. Speed within the house itself is stellar with device speeds coming higher than my better rated tri-band router. I have installed and supported APs from Zyxel, Netgear, Ubiquiti, and Cisco. These TP-link Omada APs are easily some of the best I have worked with to date. Highly recommend.

Installing this is a nightmare. You have to use tiny screws or else it wont fit into the bracket. The wall anchors they provide dont stay in a ceiling. And connecting to the admin console took 4 chats with customer service (and I work in IT!). The connection is insanely fast (500/500 on wifi from my 500/500 service) but it has some intermittent connectivity blips.

I used POE and ran a Ethernet cable in the attic, worked first time, no issues. Awesome cause I didn’t have to add a power outlet in attic!!!

These devices are easy to setup and stable. Have used at several locations. The configuration of the vlan operation allows assignment of SSIDs to different VLANs.

This is a first impressions review. I just unplugged my old stuff, and set up my new TP_Link system. My setup is this AP (EAP 245) plugged into the TP-Link TL-SG108PE | 8 Port Gigabit PoE Switch, which is plugged into the TL-R605 Router. The first and the last are Omada managed, and the switch is not. I was worried that I wouldnt be able to do Omada management at all, but it works fine on the devices that have it, and, where, IMO, its important. I did need to do a firmware update of the EAP 245 in order to manage it with V4 of the Omada software controller. I have yet to do anything fancy with the hardware, but do have several devices plugged in via ethernet, as well as the usual range of wifi devices. I had been considering Ubiquiti, but with their recent credentials leak, as well as stories of poor support, I decided on this approach, and so far am very happy.
