I wish I had one of these a long time ago. It works for me. As long as you understand you need to start out with the receiver on high sensitivity them gradually decrease it to lower sensitivity (go from general to specific to zero in one the exact breaker), you should be fine. The transmitter device seems to be exactly like one I already owned and are sold by themselves. It may just send some kind of signal the receiver detects. If you have an old home with multiple wiring revisions done over the years, this is a kit that will save you a lot of time.

Best money spent. This is by far the best tester I have for the low cost. Love the case that it comes with.

This testing and tracing system works well and can allow one person to identify every outlet connected to a load center without help. I would only add a means to attach the tester/sender to non 3-prong outlets, such as light sockets or via alligator clips. It does all that it claims and does it well.

Fairly easy to use, plug in the transmitter in the test socket and move the detector over the breakers along a line down the breaker array on the side closest to the panel box wall and not near the panel center line . instructions say to turn the sensitivity all the way down eliminate cross-talk issue but I found a midpoint setting worked better. I would typically start at full sensitivity, sweep the panel to ensure it saw a signal, then step down the sensitivity until only one breaker trigger a response. Note I generally could not distinguish between the a/b breakers in a double gang setup. I did have one issue; the transmitter makes an assessment of the socket and can identify problems with the wiring. This worked initially, but after testing several sockets it consistently indicated an unconnected ground even on circuits it initially said were ok. I verified a good ground with multimeter so bad transmitter. I returned the unit and amazon promptly replaced it . havent had any issues since then.

Needed to identify breakers that controlled outlets. Adjusting the sensitivity made the accuracy perfect. Very easy to use.

This works well on standard breakers. It works okay on double circuit breakers, as it can be tough to determine which portion of the double breaker is actually the right one since the sensor head is large enough to cover both. The key in general is to adjust the sensitivity high enough to see the flow of electricity, but as low as possible, so that you can isolate the one circuit breaker that is actually active. The fact that the transmitter unit also functions as a circuit tester, and a GFCI tester, is a nice added feature. One 9v battery is required and is included. It is inside the receiver and must have the plastic wrapper removed and then be connected. The included zippered storage case is nice. The English translation of the one page Operations Manual is usable.

Would like a version of this with a lightbulb type socket so I could trace all my in ceiling can lights as well, since the builder of my house didnt do so well marking EVERYTHING on the circuit panel in the baesment, so its always been a wild guess, if hitting the breaker for, say, the second bedroom will get the outlets in the hall outside as well or not. This at least lets me track more than I was able to before. So far weve had no issues. Its one time where having a son is convenient, since I can have him go room to room and outlet to outlet while I draw things out and track them in the basement.

When used it show a few breakers so I found my self cycling breakers that were near it till I found the right one. However once you open the right breaker the device wont sound so it does work.

Ive used a handful of these style circuit breaker finders, and they never work 100%, but they always help to narrow it down to 1 or 2. That alone can save me a lot of time. This one is no exception. Its important to remember to slowly scan all the breakers at least once before diagnosing. It has a sensitivity adjustment. I started it out on max, and it showed most of the breakers as positive. I turned it down about half way, and it showed 2 breakers that were next to each other. The first one I tried was the correct breaker. I also like that it comes with a wiring checker and gfci tester. If you dont already have one of those, this becomes a very handy set. Overall a great tool. Highly recommended.

How should I adjust the sensitivity?

Adjust the sensitivity of the receiver to the minimum and keep slowly turning it up during the measurement until it can be accurately located to the break.

Does the power have to be on for the tester to work?

Yes, it must be powered on to test the circuit break, the receiver also needs to use a 9V battery to receive the signal, but we come with the package with a 9V battery.

The receiver just beeps at all the breakers. What should i do?

Turn down the sensitivity before using it, otherwise it will beep at any break until it is adjusted to a critical point, this critical point needs to be found by you, try it a few more times and you will find break.

Will it work if there is no electricity to the socket?

No, it will not work without electricity. The socket must be connected to 90-120V mains to power the transmitter inserted into the socket.
