I wish I had one of these a long time ago. It works for me. As long as you understand you need to start out with the receiver on high sensitivity them gradually decrease it to lower sensitivity (go from general to specific to zero in one the exact breaker), you should be fine. The transmitter device seems to be exactly like one I already owned and are sold by themselves. It may just send some kind of signal the receiver detects. If you have an old home with multiple wiring revisions done over the years, this is a kit that will save you a lot of time.

This works well on standard breakers. It works okay on double circuit breakers, as it can be tough to determine which portion of the double breaker is actually the right one since the sensor head is large enough to cover both. The key in general is to adjust the sensitivity high enough to see the flow of electricity, but as low as possible, so that you can isolate the one circuit breaker that is actually active. The fact that the transmitter unit also functions as a circuit tester, and a GFCI tester, is a nice added feature. One 9v battery is required and is included. It is inside the receiver and must have the plastic wrapper removed and then be connected. The included zippered storage case is nice. The English translation of the one page Operations Manual is usable.

Would like a version of this with a lightbulb type socket so I could trace all my in ceiling can lights as well, since the builder of my house didnt do so well marking EVERYTHING on the circuit panel in the baesment, so its always been a wild guess, if hitting the breaker for, say, the second bedroom will get the outlets in the hall outside as well or not. This at least lets me track more than I was able to before. So far weve had no issues. Its one time where having a son is convenient, since I can have him go room to room and outlet to outlet while I draw things out and track them in the basement.

I own lots of these, and I am always ringing out wires... if you read bad reviews, well, that will happen with these products... mainly because, they are very unique, tempermental, and each brand has its own personality. for the newb, it can seem like, its too hard to trace, but with some trial n errror, u learn what works. how? test on a circuit you know both ends... be sure to pick one in the middle of the breaker panel find a way to test, so it works, adj. sensitivity, distance, speed, etc. once you perfect one that works, u can then move on to the mystery circuits... overall, for the receptacle gfi tester, and the tracer, this is an amazing value, and it works! recommended! 4.5 stars

Finds breaker very well but says I have open ground and I got out my tester I know is good and it say they are fine. The tester part is inaccurate

Remodeling the house and replacing sockets to current codes, this is an old house. Circuit breaker finder helped me find the right lines to turn off. Easy to use and in my low budget raange.

This works pretty well for identifying breakers on a circuit. In my case, I had to put the sensitivity at the lowest level and as others have reported, you have to hold the wand in a verical fashion. Having the GFCI / circuit tester is icing on the cake. My second Uni-T product, both well made. I only wish this unit used double or triple-A batteries instead of a 9v battery. Still a 5-Star item.

I have a lot of double single pole breakers, So the unit triggers even on the half of the breaker that is a different separate circuit. However the audible tome will be louder for the correct half; and the feed wires, if sufficiently separated, will signal very discretely on only the correct circuit. So it works just fine. In fact works great.

This kit takes the guesswork out of testing electrical outlets, and it speeds up circuit breaker identification by narrowing the possibilities to a manageable number. I only wish that the receiver wand was equipped with a signal strength indicator, for better accuracy while finding breakers. The plug-in outlet tester/transmitter works well, with bright lights that are easy to see. A color-printed decoding chart is conveniently included on the label, making it simple to interpret the results. The test button works as it should, causing my bathroom/garage GFCI outlets to trip immediately. The tester is ETL Listed, giving confidence that the kit is safe to use. The circuit breaker finding/receiving wand gets the job done, but it’s imprecise in operation. The wand tells you (with beeping and a flashing light) when it detects a signal from the outlet tester, but it’s either alerting or not, with nothing in-between. That’s not ideal, as on my electrical panel, the wand alerts on up to five breakers simultaneously, and adjusting the sensitivity doesn’t help. Having some indication of signal strength might narrow that down to one or two breakers, but this unit offers no such help. Overall, this is a decent testing/locating kit, but the wand could be better at telling you what’s going on. As it is, the kit can locate breakers to within a handful of possibilities, and that’s certainly better than nothing, but I had hoped for a little more precision.

How should I adjust the sensitivity?

Adjust the sensitivity of the receiver to the minimum and keep slowly turning it up during the measurement until it can be accurately located to the break.

Does the power have to be on for the tester to work?

Yes, it must be powered on to test the circuit break, the receiver also needs to use a 9V battery to receive the signal, but we come with the package with a 9V battery.

The receiver just beeps at all the breakers. What should i do?

Turn down the sensitivity before using it, otherwise it will beep at any break until it is adjusted to a critical point, this critical point needs to be found by you, try it a few more times and you will find break.

Will it work if there is no electricity to the socket?

No, it will not work without electricity. The socket must be connected to 90-120V mains to power the transmitter inserted into the socket.
