> 24 hourIve used this for just about 4 hours of video conversion. I have a Sony Hi8 HandyCam DCR-TR7000 using the S-video and RCA type audio cables. Simple to use - hook it up, set up the record program, hit play ... and it records. The end product is very good. Not as good as if the original was from a digital format and not tape, but it is very close. One piece of advice - when you are setting up to record and you are asked to enter the length of the recording - make sure you know the length or estimate more time. This feature is great if you want to leave and let it do its thing and come back whenever yo fell like - the recoding will stop at the time you set. But if the video is longer and the set time is shorter, it will stop recording! You can bypass that step and go straight to endless record, but only use this you are going to monitor the progress. You can stop and start a any point using this method. The only problem I have had thus far was the initial install. I had to run it several times. Twice to get the drivers to install correctly and then two more times for the software to identify my device. Since then, no problems at all.

> 24 hourThe Advanced Mode is VERY complicated. Dont have the time to learn it much less use it. The Easy Wizard would not work at first, after spending a couple of hours. Had to contact tech support. They werent sure where problem was. They Did spend a lot of time trying to resolve the problem. Suggested I trouble shoot on my own. I Later found an update patch for 8.0 , using Google, that SPECIFICALLY addressed the Easy Wizard problems I was having. Patched to 8.01 or 8.1. Works great now, for simple unedited transfers.

> 24 hourFirst off, I want to say this company has excellent customer service. A human in the United States answered the phone and was extremely helpful and they have late business hours and work weekends too. Very impressed! I only gave this product 4 stars because as you play the tape on the software it distorts the picture quite a bit which is very irritating and disappointing. They suggested I clean the heads inside the VCR which I admit hasnt been used in years so it could be dusty. Havent tried that yet. Their software also adds some audible noise and distorts the sound quality a little. I guess I could pay a professional company up to $10 a tape to do it but Im not willing to spend the money. Program is super easy to use! I used it with Windows 10 without needing any updating of the software or drivers.

> 24 hourTransfers video as described, but the software to edit video lags and freezes consistently every video Ive edited. Ive had to save projects and close out, then go back in and hope it allows me to view without the skipping and freezing.

> 24 hourMay change this if I get a hold of support. But got this for my wifes birthday she wanted old vhs home movies transferred. Each tape is 30 minutes. The first time I tried easy mode and it said it recorded it all but ended up with only 8 minutes. Then I did it again in advanced mode mpeg2 and got the full 30 minutes so was like ok now we are in business. But later started anther tape recorded 30 minutes at 1.8 gig, but then after it stopped it said 30 minutes at 1.8 gig, but only wrote a 700 meg file with the last 9 minutes on it. Thats also what it showed in the edit part. Tried 3 times same result. Now trying a 4th in wmv to see if that makes a difference. I do not care the format I will be re-coding in handbrake to hevc anyway. I raised from 1 to 3 stars, because it actually does you just have to leave it running on top of the screen or it will cut it. At least in windows 10 if it gets tabbed down you have to start over. I have used a lot of encoding software and this is more like a screen capture software that catches its box only and only when its on top.

> 24 hourThis package does a pretty good job of capturing VHS tape video for editing and creation of a DVD. The quality of the transfer depends on the quality of the VHS tape. The software is basic and easy to use, but includes most features that are necessary. I did not try to record audio only or create a slide show, so I cant speak to all aspects of the software. The hardware seems to be well built and the software works smoothly on my relatively old Windows 7 machine. In all, it is what I expected.

> 24 hourIm very happy with this software. Installation was quick and easy. I opted NOT to install the QuickTime portion of the software, which shouldnt be an issue, as I plan on using the Easy Wizard mode only. So far Ive transferred two VHS tapes to DVD, and both look very good. Typically VHS film quality, mind you. But thats to be expected when your source is VHS. The transfers to DVD are perfectly watchable. The only issue I saw was a small wavy line appearing at the very top of the frame(s). However, this doesnt detract from enjoying the DVD transfer, in my opinion. (Im not sure if this is a VCR tracking issue or something that normally occurs during the VHS to DVD transfer). My VCR only has one Audio OUT jack. So this results in the audio being heard in one channel only, IF listening to the DVD with headphones. However, this should be rectified by using a 2-Female to 1-Male RCA Y-adapter connection (costs around $5 to $10). The sound will still be mono but at least it will be heard through both the left and right channels (when listening with headphones). All in all, I am extremely pleased I chose this product for my VHS transfers. (My operating system is Windows 8.1 with a 2.0 GHz processor).

> 24 hourI wouldnt say its entirely user friendly but it has helped to get our old home movies from VHS to a portable hard drive. Grab some popcorn, pull up a few chairs and enjoy the movies because you have to sit through them anyways. The problem i had with ours is that at times it would freeze and not record requiring us to have to start over. That was annoying but by babysitting as it was running we had less issues. Some technology just needs to be babysat i guess.... Get it if you got time to kill and do not want to see your home movies deteriorate to nothing, or you can binge on old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Captain Bucky O Hare tapes

> 24 hourEasy to install. It allows us to take family VHS tapes and convert them to .wmv files on our Windows PC. You can create DVDs but I have not done this yet, as I want to edit the .wmv files for content (45 minutes of a football game needs to be shortened to about 10 minutes!) MUCH cheaper than taking them to commercial converters! My feeling is that DVDs will age out over time and as long as I have the .wmv I can edit them with PC software over time.

> 24 hourInitial review: Worked well the first day of use. On second day, it was DOA. Works good when working. Serious reliability problems. Revised review: Amazon sent a replacement immediately. Replacement has worked flawlessly for over 40 video tapes. Changed my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars. I would recommend to a friend.
