The updates do not come as frequently as the big names, but an excellent buy for everyday normal use.

I am a long time Webroot user - every year I get a new copy for 3 laptops. I installed on two identical laptops and the same result. After installation subsequent reboots I could enter the password but never get to Windows - it would just hang. I could boot in safe mode and safe mode with networking, but never normal windows. On another laptop the install went fine. However, my microphone was disabled. But software took 10 to 20 times as long to launch. Everything was fixed when I uninstalled Webroot. S Yeah, but there is that world class support. Contacted them but never got any help. First was you need to update Windows. Ironically, the two laptops that had the problem were the ones up to date. Run this app that gathered all sorts of information. Never heard anything from that. Try installing this. Same failure. And then I heard nothing. I never got any help on isolating the problem. I did solve one problem - being so slow. It would take a couple of minutes to launch Word. Windows Defender has changed. It used to require me to turn it on when uninstalling virus protection. Now it turns on automatically and when running with Webroot installed the combination made things very, very slow. Several minutes to launch Word. Disable Windows Defender and things were normal. That was NOT a support suggestion, I stumbled upon it myself. So if you have problems, chances are you are on your own. There is no substantive support.

Was one day before I was due to “renew” my subscription. Had already ordered disc at good savings over online cost. Went to auto install and kept bringing up “renew” now screen. Plus it knocked off my one day saying I had no protection. After uninstalling original, install went smoothly.

Excellent program, runs in the background. I had not used Anti-Virus protection in years, as Macintosh is relatively immune. I had recently downloaded Mac Cleaner and that is when the apparent problems began. Virtually every time I clicked while running Safari, I would get a new screen warning of a new virus infection. These screens looked official and many appeared to be actual Apple sites. I once followed the prompts and ultimately this led to a purchase screen for their advanced product. I seems that the program was loaded with issues that automatically prompted virus alerts. Webroot cleared all these issues on the first scan. I am sure other brands of virus protection work well. In the olden days - from 1987 to 2008.... I still have my first Mac SE, I used Norton software, which worked extremely well for protection, backup, etc. Since purchasing my first laptop in 2008; however, no additional protection software seemed necessary, at the time. Times have changed. I tried Trend Micro, but had download issues from the vendor, and finally requested and received a refund. After reading multiple reviews, I selected Webroot and so far, am pleased. This Webroot program offers protection at a reasonable price.

If you have an old version you have to uninstall it before you can install the new version otherwise it will ask u to pay again and there is no provision to put in the key code

Hubby, the IT professional succeeded in contracting some Virii. As soon as he noticed something was amiss he scanned with MS Defender. Nada. Next he tried MalwareBytes. Some hits and a couple were quarantined. At this point he was getting frantic as his finely tuned Spidey senses were tingling. Rather they were going off like the evacuation klaxons for the local Nuclear power plant. I was more interested in just exactly what he was doing to have gotten in sooooo much trouble. In desperation, aided by a reasonably positive CNET article he downloaded WebRoot from Amazon. Bingo, he was clean again. As far as his computer status that is. He says that hes aware there may be better products but he was desperate. Within 10 minutes of the download he was smiling. And winking. As far as that goes, Im still waiting on an answer about his web activities....

Works as advertised, but beware you will lose any time left on the license you are updating. This loss cost them 1 star in my rating. Wait until you only have a day or two remaining on your active license before you activate.

So, this was running fine I thought until I started to notice files missing and realized I must have a virus. I ran a scan and lo and behold I DID have a virus. Of course I was happy that my virus scan WEBROOT found it and gave me the option to clean it out. I clicked to remove the virus and it said that it removed it and started a rescan...this happened four times over a three day period (I was scanning all of the mapped drives). When I reached out to get some support from webroot, they asked me to download an exe file that would send them a log of what was happening. I did and then they wrote me again with a solution...they told me how to eject my mapped drive and to rescan and that should solve my problem...WHAT!? If I do not scan my drive, I will not have a virus! Really? I wrote back asking for a refund because obviously this is a fake product if they can not prevent viruses, can not remove them, and their solution is not to scan the drives so that the problem is solved. They wrote back asking if they could help via a phone call...sure! Why not? Lol, jokes on me, they never called! Would be ZERO stars if possible

Operates in background, wont slow your computer down. Have used it for about three years now and have no problems.
