The foam mat I had was 2 inches high. I found myself working off the mat because it was uncomfortable to work that high above the table top. I decided to order the Woolbuddy since it has good reviews and is only 1 1/2 inches high. What a difference that half inch makes! Im much more comfortable now. In addition, the soft, wool, felted working surface it much nicer to rest your hands on. Its quiet too. Im continuing to use the foam mat for when I am being more aggressive, like felting a flat piece, or when I just need some crunch. Im quite pleased with the Woolbuddy mat. When my order arrived, it had specks of assorted colors other than the pink it was supposed to be. I wasnt sure if they belonged there or if it had been used and returned. I reached out to Woolbuddy customer service and they didnt hesitate to send me a replacement. Kudos to the Woolbuddy Team who were prompt with their replies and kept me informed through the replacement process.

I love the size and feel of this felting pad! It is an upgrade to my foam pad with a piece of felt on top! It arrived quickly and I would order from woolbuddy again.

After reading the reviews I was pretty excited for this to arrive. I’ve used it for two projects (flokati props for my newborn photo studio) and it works, but just barely. I had the brush style (Clover) that I loved but it’s just a bit too small for this type of flat work. I went with the Xlarge but it’s already showing weakness in the middle. It seems as thought it’s got some sort of frame around it but then the middle has too much give. Pretty disappointed with this purchase.

II like the size and firmness of this needle felting pad

I liked the wool buddy initially. I try to be contentious about moving my project frequently so it doesnt felt to the pad, but I feel like even the smallest bit of felting and then moving it leads to pulling on the felt and making the project fuzzy. I also noticed today as I was felting brown wool onto a project that some white remnants were coming up from the pad and sticking in with the brown. But that may be my fault as I havent cleaned it.

The needle felting pad I received is only 9”x9” and is not the size as advertised, 10”x10”. I have several of these woolbuddy pads, I purchase at least one a year and this isn’t accurate. I’m not willing to go the extra steps to return it, because I shouldn’t have to. When ordering a specific size based on the description listed, it’s expected to arrive at that size, so, I’m not entirely happy. I will update my review if company follows up with me.

Prior to getting this, Ive only used foam for doing needle felting. This is such an amazing upgrade, and really took my needle felting to the next level. Excellent product, and I wish I would have upgraded ages ago. Its so much easier to use than plain foam mats, and I was able to work far more easily on a smaller scale) Here is the mat in action, while making a moon and stars.
