My daughters hermit crab seemed depressed the last 6 months we have had him, we have had him for 9 months all together. Not really knowing how hermit crabs are actually supposed to live we picked him up on a beach vacation with gravel and a small tank. Well I noticed he would just sit in his corner constantly the last 6 months and never come out ever only to eat and drink, and was quick to hide away. I bought a hut for him to hide under but he still hid back in that one corner. Poor crab was stressed. It was time to do something new. I bought this stuff, little bit larger cage and I’ve never seen him move around and dig so much. He is happy! He has dug all kinds of holes and he even uses his hut now to burrow in. I’m glad i did research and I bought this stuff.

My hermit crabs love this stuff. They travel over it & are able to bury themselves in it very easily.

Grows mold! And fast!

This stuff is nice, but….there was a bug…yes alive…I’m not sure how it survived, but when I added water and let it sit, a little black beetle thing emerged. No it wasn’t in the bowl before. Just be careful. I have no idea what it was. Looked harmless, but god only knows where it came from.

Covers a ten gallon tank very well. About 2-3 inches of soil come from the compressed brick.

I had to put it in a 5 gallon bucket to “make it” then use my hands to mix it up and take it out of the bucket. I only got one use out of it for a 1 gallon tank 2 inches across the bottom then had to throw the rest out. It wasn’t even in the tank for a week and the odor was awful and it started molding.
