Exactly what I needed tonget the old wii up and running again

Our system hadnt been used in a while, mainly because the system was very temperamental about accepting and reading game disks. I found a site that walked through the steps to replace the drive (ifixit.com) and then ordered this replacement drive. Product appeared to be new, contrary to a few reviews here. Product arrived in just a few days, and the instructions on the other site were easy enough to follow, and replacement took about an hour or so. Note: you will need Tri-wing screwdriver for the replacement, and using separate containers for screws and parts is very helpful when disassembling and reassembling. Once everything was back together, the system fired up and works like new. Couldnt be happier.

tried it on a Wii game and it works! It even worked for my really scratched up loose GameCube games!

this is the second time I replaced the drive on my wii. instillation is extremly simple. find a good youtube video to show you how. Make sure you remember where each screw goes. there are several different sizes and 2 types of screws.

The original drive on my Wii stopped working (clicking sounds and error messages on tv screen). This replacement took about 20 minutes. Might be better off with your own repair tools but what they provide is good for one time usage.

Was looking for a new drive since we were not able to use the discs any longer, getting the unable to read message. Tried cleaning the lens to no avail. This was last resort and worked perfectly. Lots of little hidden screws to take out, some the safety y type. Did not have the proper screw driver for it, the ones i had were too big so I just used a dremel and modified a small star type to fit. to make it easier before install order a small kit with that type of screw driver. Once I got all the screws out and the unit separated it took about 2 min to replace the drive. Total time was about 45 min to replace.

So nice to find this part for our beloved family wii machine that stopped working. Our grandkids are happy to have it back playing their favorite games.
