> 3 dayOur Wii console had the issue where the system would start up and display the Wii menu on the TV, but the tile for the DVD game disc would never load the small preview and would show an error about reading the disc when you tried to select it. After following some detailed drive replacement instructions online (and cursing those Tri-wing screws left and right), I finally got it replaced. The Wii works normally now and the kids have been playing off and on for a couple weeks. So far, so good! My only tip would be to be very careful with the tri-wing screws. Some of mine were in rather tight and both the tri-wing driver and the tri-wing screws would round out and wear out. Ultimately, I had to use my dremel to very carefully cut a straight flat slot in the last tri-wing screw in order to get it out. Then, I did the same to all of the other screws in order to be able to reassemble. If you can find flat or Phillips replacements for the various screws, I would recommended doing that. But that tip is irrelevant of this DVD drive part. So far the part is doing as advertised.

> 3 dayFor years the Wii stopped working. I read about replacing the DVD drive would fix the none active Wii and it did. Now the family is back bowling and golfing at home, lol. You tube video helped with the installation. Also purchase the special screwdriver needed for the Wii, this will make it easier. Thank you

> 3 dayMy Wii broke down awhile ago where it stopped reading disks. After discovering that the disk reader had malfunctioned and was no longer operating properly I purchased this replacement disk reader and installed it myself. It worked perfectly and fixed the problem, now the wii has been working great so far. The reason as to why I rated this 4 stars is because one of the pieces on the inside was loose. It was a rubber part that secured one of the screws. In order to reattach the rubber piece I had to open up the disk reader. When I did so, I noticed that there was a ton of dust and other particles trapped inside. I cleaned it, but was disappointed that the company selling these parts did not clean them properly. It makes me wonder if they even opened it or checked the inside before shipping it off. You can refer to the picture to see how much dust was trapped inside. Overall, I am happy that it fixed the issue.

> 3 dayThe original drive on my Wii stopped working (clicking sounds and error messages on tv screen). This replacement took about 20 minutes. Might be better off with your own repair tools but what they provide is good for one time usage.

> 3 dayGreat. Get the tools trilobe and very small phillips. Carefully follow online instructions and youll be happy with repair. I left the front cover gently hanging by the 2 wires instead of removing completely.

> 3 dayThe product may have been ok but had no directions. I bought the suggested tool set to work with the drive. Looked at hours of YouTube videos to get a sense of what was needed Tried everything suggested- didn’t work. Honey tried - didn’t work. Brother tried - didn’t work. Ended up getting a new WII.

> 3 dayThis drive worked as advertised for replacing the original drive in our 10 year old Wii. Does not come with instructions however you can find many step by step tutorials online. I have never fixed any electronic in my life and I had no problems. If I can do it it then I can assure you that you can too. Come to find out we all have a little bit of “nerd” hidden deep in our souls. So thankful that I took a chance on this replacement drive instead of buying a used console or new wii. The drive on a used console most likely will soon go out based on what I learned on different online forums so if your wii stopped working plan on buying a new console or buy a replacement drive. BTW.... you will need a tool set in addition to this drive. I learned the hard way and had to order one after receiving the drive. The tool kit is available on Amazon and varies in cost from $10 to $30 depending on how nice you want it.
