> 3 dayThis drive worked as advertised for replacing the original drive in our 10 year old Wii. Does not come with instructions however you can find many step by step tutorials online. I have never fixed any electronic in my life and I had no problems. If I can do it it then I can assure you that you can too. Come to find out we all have a little bit of “nerd” hidden deep in our souls. So thankful that I took a chance on this replacement drive instead of buying a used console or new wii. The drive on a used console most likely will soon go out based on what I learned on different online forums so if your wii stopped working plan on buying a new console or buy a replacement drive. BTW.... you will need a tool set in addition to this drive. I learned the hard way and had to order one after receiving the drive. The tool kit is available on Amazon and varies in cost from $10 to $30 depending on how nice you want it.

> 3 dayMy Wii has come back to life! I watched a YouTube video several times to know how to remove the original drive. The first one I ordered would not work; it wouldn’t accept the disk. I really wanted my Wii back and exchanged for a second and tried again. The second one worked like a dream. You definitely need to also order the game screw driver kit for those Y screws. Make sure you have good light and reading glasses when you start

> 3 dayThe unit I received didn’t look too good…as if it had been exposed to high humidity or salt water. Lots of areas showing corrosion. It looked much worse than the broken Wii drive it was replacing; however, it works! Followed some online tutorials and was able to install in less than 30 minutes. You’ll need some small tools, including a Y-head driver, but overall a pretty easy install. I worry about the longevity given the poor condition, but so far it’s working fine. My kids are excited to play some of their old Wii games again. It is working with our GameCube disks, even though the description says it shouldn’t.

> 3 dayWorked perfectly. I was extremely happy that the kit came with the proper tools as well. Revived our old Nintendo Wii which couldn’t read disks no matter how much we cleaned it.

> 3 dayThank goodness for this item! Our 14 yo Wii ground to a halt earlier this year. We tried a drive cleaner, but there was no improvement. While looking around at used Wiis, I came across this. I’m good at following directions (I’ve replaced the sensor array in a Roomba, this is easier), so with the help of a YouTube video, I replaced the innards. Now we have a working Wii again! You need special tri-wing screwdrivers - just one small one really, and a tiny Phillips head along with a very small one. My tiny one came from a watch repair tool set I have. There was one screw that fought me and I couldn’t remove it - the center screw that holds the black faceplate on under the flap doors. I rotated the faceplate around until it came loose from the screw, and the rest was smooth sailing. I apologize for not knowing the sizes of my various screw drivers, but I’m not sure if most people have any this small in their homes. I’m crafty and handy so have amassed quite the tool collection over the years. Nintendo should consider reissuing the original Wii. It’s much-loved in our house, even though we have a Switch and an XBox. May we enjoy another 14 years with our Wii!
