It took me 25 minutes to change this out. You will need a Y screwdriver to change. There are a few youtube videos to show how to change. You dont need to know about electronics to use. this.

At first I thought this is too good to be true.. But it really works. Our original Wii is ancient. It stopped playing discs over a year ago. Since then I have been looking to replace it. But I just wasnt a fan of the buying options out there. Somehow I ran across this. I had a techie friend verify that it would most likely work. He also helped install it for me. He was done within a couple hours. But he knew what he was doing and had the right tools. He specifically mentioned needing a Y-wing screwdriver. Really, this was a fantastic option for us. My kids are thrilled to be able to play their games again.

This is exactly what we needed to get our Wii up and running again. After the original part could no longer read disks we tried several cleaning methods that didnt work. An easy Youtube search suggested replacing the disk reader. This disk reader is very cost effective. You DO need to have the proper Y shaped screw driver. It was so easy my 12 year old son replaced it while following a Youtube tutorial all on his own. Dont be intimidated by this repair. You can do it! I also love that since we were only replacing the disk reader (and not repurchasing a new WII) all of our data and game progress was still saved.

This arrived as promised. Install was not hard. Follow the video! Wii lives again!

Make sure you buy/have a Tri Wing screwdriver! Or you won’t get this installed. We bought a Tri Wing bit set then we attached it to our multi bit screwdriver but then the combo itself was too big to fit in the holes of the Wii console. We went everywhere locally to find a Tri Wing screwdriver and there were none. So we had to modify the Tri Wing Bit to fit into the Wii console and multi bit screwdriver. Do yourself a favor and just buy the Tri Wing screwdriver when you purchase the new Wii drive!

My disc drive on my wii stopped working and was making clicking noises. I did some utube searches to trouble shoot and they all led to the laser that reads the disc. It costs the same and was much easier to replace the whole drive with this replacement drive. It came with all of the special tools needed and took about 20 minutes to replace.

Perfect solution for disk read error on the Wii. Comes with the tools needed for easy install. Happy to be able to play Wii games again. Used on original Wii that was purchased 2006.

The first one I received was dead so i got a free replacement and it worked like a charm.
