> 3 dayOur system hadnt been used in a while, mainly because the system was very temperamental about accepting and reading game disks. I found a site that walked through the steps to replace the drive (ifixit.com) and then ordered this replacement drive. Product appeared to be new, contrary to a few reviews here. Product arrived in just a few days, and the instructions on the other site were easy enough to follow, and replacement took about an hour or so. Note: you will need Tri-wing screwdriver for the replacement, and using separate containers for screws and parts is very helpful when disassembling and reassembling. Once everything was back together, the system fired up and works like new. Couldnt be happier.

> 3 dayThis disc drive works excellent. The beat thing about it that it says it doesn’t play Gamecube games and those were the fisrt i tried and it did played at least for me. My original disk drive that came with the wii at some time it couldn’t played all the wii games i have like Xenoblade but with is it was fast. The only thing that bothers is that it makes a lot of noise well obviously depends on the game, like the laser it’s doing a lot of work I just hope it last for a couple a years. The other thing it that I find it a bit expensive IMO. Edit: Since 8 months with this, stills works.

> 3 dayI liked that this product came with the screwdrivers and tools I needed. It took me about 1 hour to install and it was fairly simple; however, it ultimately did not fix my problem. Now I have to uninstall it and send it back. Ugh. My issue on my Wii was never that it wouldn’t take the disc but that once you were playing the game (any game) it would randomly say “An Error has occurred. Press the Eject button, remove the disc, and turn off the power to the console. Please read the Wii operations manual for further instructions”. It was very frustrating especially when in the middle of playing and we never knew when it was going to happen. My kids were so excited for it to be fixed and when I finally plugged it in to test it out, the error code showed up before we even picked a player. So disappointed.

> 3 dayGreat. Get the tools trilobe and very small phillips. Carefully follow online instructions and youll be happy with repair. I left the front cover gently hanging by the 2 wires instead of removing completely.

Greater than one weekThank goodness for this item! Our 14 yo Wii ground to a halt earlier this year. We tried a drive cleaner, but there was no improvement. While looking around at used Wiis, I came across this. I’m good at following directions (I’ve replaced the sensor array in a Roomba, this is easier), so with the help of a YouTube video, I replaced the innards. Now we have a working Wii again! You need special tri-wing screwdrivers - just one small one really, and a tiny Phillips head along with a very small one. My tiny one came from a watch repair tool set I have. There was one screw that fought me and I couldn’t remove it - the center screw that holds the black faceplate on under the flap doors. I rotated the faceplate around until it came loose from the screw, and the rest was smooth sailing. I apologize for not knowing the sizes of my various screw drivers, but I’m not sure if most people have any this small in their homes. I’m crafty and handy so have amassed quite the tool collection over the years. Nintendo should consider reissuing the original Wii. It’s much-loved in our house, even though we have a Switch and an XBox. May we enjoy another 14 years with our Wii!

> 3 dayYears ago the disc drive in our Wii stopped working. I took it apart and got it working again, but it was very noisy. Recently my kids found the Wii and wanted to play it, and while it worked it was super noisy. I found this replacement drive and installed it. Super simple and it worked like a charm. Now the Wii reads discs and it is quiet again. It is like a brand new Wii console!
