L-lysine is a constant supplement for me to ward off cold sore and herpes outbreaks. This product is a good deal for me. I wish the tablets werent so big, but they seem to go down ok.

I give this to my cat because she coughed a lot due to living in the past with heavy smokers. But these were too big, even in half. They also did not sit well on her stomach. Soooooo..... I started my husband on them because his lungs and trachea were scorched in an explosion while serving this country. He gets horrible colds and bronchitis. So far so good. He doesnt mind they are big pills. I will update you if he gets ill. But I dont see that happening. Actually even his sneezing and allergies have slowed way down.

I found that Lysine does help to reduce the severity of Herpes damage. I have been sufferring from Herpes on and above my lips since childhood. Everyone knows it is almost impossible to control or heal this ugly virus :( This is my second bottle of Lysine and although Herpes occured once during the time I was taking tgese pills, it healed TWICE faster and was not that ugly and severe as usually. That is why I plan to take these pills regularly from now on.

Let me start this off with every person is different. Im assuming this will work similar with other people as it has with me though. Ok, now to the review. I have gotten cold sores since... well since as far back as I can remember. Im almost 21 years old now and I am very self-conscious about having cold sores. It gives me such bad anxiety and I get panic attacks and blehh... its not good. Frankly, it makes me want to hide away and just never go out ever again. I used to get cold sores every month or so, and sometimes 2+ times a month in the winter. It devastated me. I heard about lysine from my doctor because I couldnt afford to keep up the prescribed stuff and he said that Lysine would be better because its preventative and still helps get rid of them when happen to get a cold sore. I ordered this quite a while ago and started taking 1 pill twice a day. I didnt have any cold sores. At all. When winter first started this year, I went to visit family in california and got sick from them. I was stressing out about a lot of things (the possibility of getting a cold sore was one of the main stressors), so of course, I got a cold sore. I started taking 2 pills 3 times a day. Im sure if it was possible to overdose on this, I would have. The cold sore went through its normal cycle, but a lot quicker. Winter isnt over yet, so Ive been taking 2 pills twice a day and I havent had one again (yet). I really owe so much to L-Lysine. I know this was a long review, but I hope it helps someone. I am 66 years old and find my immune system is not what it used to be. My last flu shot gave me more problems that I ever had in my life. I searched on immune system, and started using these pills. I have many allergies that bother me year round. I settled on 4 a day and have noticed a difference, but am still in the wait and see area. Many people have a problem with the size of these pills. They are smaller and have a coating to help swallowing, than the 3 1000mg Ester C pills I also take daily. When I was having a problem getting my Ester C huge pills down, I was advised by a coworker to use warm to hot water when taking my daily pills, and that has made a big difference. I take the pills that bother me most as the first of the day, and I dont have any problem with the rest. Not panicking helps too. I will probably keep using these, along my Ester C, until my next flu shot.

So far the value for this brand has been great. L-Lysine has a repeatable working affect at reducing the time (about half the time) for cells to heal. If I bit my lip or cheek and it developes a sore in my mouth, it is painful but Lysine cuts the healing time in half for me when taken in large doses every day until healed. I tend to take it everyday to help in recovery from workout and it seems to help, but my benchmark is actual cuts and skin healing. I am not sure if this brand is any better than others but it works, great pricing overall, good general coating to the typical large pills.
