> 3 dayMy inner Bao Bao (baby) is enthralled by Peipei Zhous two BAO BAO childrens books--I own both. What joy! They are sure to entertain while teaching kids (I think of all ages, really) the basics of the Chinese language. Great quality in design and construction too. This series is a winner!!!!

> 3 dayMy recently turned 3YO son has been totally obsessed with the first Bao Bao book since last year and we love it so much its now become a staple in our gift rotation to welcome newborns, for toddler birthday parties, when visiting friends with little ones, etc. In the process of purchasing yet another gift copy, I was delighted to stumble across this recently released second book. My son recognized Bao Bao on the cover immediately when the Amazon box arrived and had already excitedly torn off the plastic shrink wrap before I even had time to find the scissors, and soon the familiar sound of Bao Bao’s songs was coming from his room. Over the past few days we have found him on multiple occasions just rocking in his chair listening to Bao Bao while enjoying his milk and snack (lifes pretty awesome when youre 3!), and hes already started picking up some of the new songs from listening to them on repeat, so needless to say, the new Bao Bao is a huge hit! I am always impressed by how quickly toddlers pick up new things, but the fact that every word of mandarin my son has learned so far comes from the Bao Bao books is really a credit to the genius of this adorable learning tool. He has always enjoyed push-the-button books, but Bao Bao is so much better -- and more often used -- than the piles of interactive toys we have amassed over the years. In fact, given how often our copy of the first book is played with, Im shocked we havent had to replace our copy by now -- we havent even had to replace the batteries yet -- so bonus points for a high-quality product in addition to the great songs and cute illustrations. The last thing Ill say about the Bao Bao books is that, unlike many other toys/books which make noise and can drive parents to the brink of absolute madness (especially in quarantine, where both space and patience can be limited...), both my husband and I get a kick out of the Bao Bao books, so much so that we dont even mind that its become a bit of an unofficial soundtrack to our WFH calls and web meetings. Highly recommend!!

> 3 dayMy kids love it, more so for the music/songs, not so much about following the lyrics. The pace of the song is good for listening but if trying to learn the Chinese words/characters, the pace is too quick.

> 3 dayThe Chinese is legit, and the pictures are cute. My baby is rough with it but its holding up great. I appreciate the 2 levels of volume. However, if you expect the English language words to be singable to the tune for Chinese songs, youll be disappointed. Its a great resource though!

18-11-2024This is the second book to Peipeis first Music Book and we are so glad we purchased this book! The first book had great songs, but we found that having a second book at grandparents home helped to keep our daughters interest level in Chinese songs. (Plus, wouldnt you want to have your child see and learn from a variety of bilingual books?!). Having a mother (who is a native speaker) and a father (who is a 3rd generation American Chinese), this book has helped bridge the gap for the grandparents to learn Chinese tunes together with our daughter. Now that grandpa more interested in learning Chinese, the whole family is singing catchy songs during play time and our daughter is just in love. Its been so cool to see how the grandparents have become more involved in her language learning because of this book! I reviewed the first book (which I highly recommend!) with the three things I love about the book that also apply to this one. But I thought it would be good to include more details about why my family loves the second book. 1. A mix of English-translated songs and childhood songs If you grew up with Chinese speaking family, a few of these songs might take you back to your own childhood memories. I quickly became reminiscent of my own childhood days when my mom and grandma would sing these songs to me and now they can do the same to my daughter. I love that the author included songs that have lasted generations in my family. As a Chinese American, I also have the pin yin and English translations (and Peipeis voice) throughout that help me understand the songs story and how to pronounce it accurately. 2. If Youre Happy and You Know It in CHINESE? This was amazing. Ive been singing this song in English 10x a day with my daughter (because she loves all the movements), but with this book, grandparents and I can sing it in Chinese! (Actually, Peipeis doing a great job singing it, via book). I love that I can now mix it up with a different language so that my daughter can hear both versions from grandparents and myself. 3. Songs that promote family time I love that the songs have a mixture of being a happy kid and especially ones that emphasize the importance of family. I just love that it inspires us as a family to sit together and enjoy each others presence. Weve made these songs into circle time with family and play time before bed because she not only loves listening to Peipei sing, but also us sing and dance along to the tunes. Its been so cute to see! I could continue to go on about Peipeis work, but I am just so appreciative of how much time and effort shes put into this book to allow my child to have a bilingual environment where the family members are engaged and learning together. Totally 100% recommend her books and I look forward to purchasing more from her! Thank you, Peipei!

> 3 dayEver since I got the first Bao Bao book, Ive been waiting for the second one to come out! The second one is just as great as the first and includes some more Western songs and rhymes. Again, the quality of the book is superb, the songs are sung clearly so my child can understand them, and theyre great to follow along.

> 3 dayMy 15 mo loves listening to the songs in this book. He is learning cantonese, but I also wanted to expose him to mandarin. The text is easy to read for mandarin and non-mandarin readers. Also, this book is very durable, which is a huge plus!
