> 3 dayMy son and I took this outside the day it arrived and were able to get a bundle of dryer lint going with one hearty strike, which we then built into a nice little fire. It throws a large shower of sparks and the length means youre able to get some purchase on it and still have plenty of surface area for generating sparks. I have since started numerous fires with the rod and have been impressed with it since day one. I dont know whats wrong with the folks who gave it 1 star but Id have to guess user error.

> 3 dayJust buy it already... Yes, it is bigger than just about any other ferro rod out there. And yes, it is extremely heavy. BUT, the reward is massive amount of sparks! Note: try to avoid looking directly at the sparks, youll get little blind spots in your vision for a few minutes!

Greater than one weekBest fire starter ever. Got tired of overpaying for long stem butane lighters, so I bought this, works great, lights up my cedar bark shavings on first or second stroke.

> 3 dayBest ferro rod I have used. Showers of sparks with every strike, I tried it with multiple different strikers and blades and it works great.
