> 3 dayThroughs great spark with a knife but the provided scraping device is a bit small to really get a good rip on the fire steel. With that said I simply showed my sons girlfriend how to use it with a knife spine and she was promptly making fires with this steel having had no prior experience in primitive fire starting. I definitely have no problem recommending this as a fire steel you just might want to use a different striking device.

> 3 dayGreat product, does exactly what it’s built for and should last a long time. The lanyard provides nice extra rope/cordage for emergencies

> 3 dayInitial review; throws a good amount of sparks, large surface area good sturdy paracord lanyard, however the striker that is included is pretty lame, more often then not Ive used the spine of my knife (which works well) Ill update my review if it exceeds my expectations in field or if it fails in any way.
