> 3 dayUsed a maxpedition fatty pouch to male a center console truck emergency kit. Colorado provides lots of opportunities to screw up, so felt it was a solid idea. 1 part of my fire kit was a 4 Bayite ferro rod. Used it a few times and it indeed was successful in throwing enough sparks to start a fire. Sadly some jagoff broke into my truck one night and decided to help themselves to the emergency pouch, and the larger and more equiped bag I had put together that also had the 4 rod. Now that Im starting over and restocking, I decided to gomwith the larger maxpedition beefy pouch, and added the 6 Bayite ferro rod. This one is better. The extra 2 inches makes it easier to hold, and gives more area to scrape. It throws better sparks in my opinion also. When I rebuild the backpack Ill get another one of these also for that fore kit. They could add an actual nubby handle for increased grip, but overall very happy with it.

> 3 dayGood thickness will last a while. Good length easy to get the sparks youd need with a single easy stroke. Paracord tethered handle loop is nice (good length) and cauterized, so it wont unravel. The striker comes looped to the paracord loop and is a decent length with good sharp angled edges. Well made product.
