Greater than one weekThe striker is garbage, youll need to find a new one. But the stick definitely throws some sparks.

> 3 dayI enjoy a fair number of fires during the summer, whether camping in the wild or running our little chiminea with friends gathered around. Last year, immediately on receiving this ferro rod, I began a still-ongoing streak of lighting fires without a match or lighter. If youre at home and have fine materials like toilet paper, old phone books, newsprint, etc., lighting is a cinch: create a little nest out of your fuel, lean this rod downward at about a 45-degree angle (best to rest it on something) and scrape. For those of you in the woods--especially in damp climates--its a little trickier, but perhaps you already have trained yourself to gather suitable tinder when and where you find it. I am no expert, but one thing I find helpful is to scrape hard and fast. You can actually hear the difference when you put some effort and speed into it. Really pour the sparks on to your fuel, then when they start to catch, stop scraping and gently blow to help the flame grow. Add incrementally bigger fuel--pine needles and dry leaves, then pinecones and small branches, and eventually logs--and youll quickly have a fire that will either comfort you or save your life, depending on your situation. Highly recommend! Theres a lot of survival currency in just one of these rods!

> 3 dayCheap strike broke after literally 3 strikes. I got 2 of the same sized rods for the price and knotted paracord aint that pricey.

> 3 dayHave several basic survival type fire steels. This blows them out of the water. It even works well using the striker provided. Huge shower if sparks and plenty of room to work with.

> 3 dayA great striker. When using even light pressure it gives good sparks. Came in a nice little cardboard box, the lanyard is good quality, and I would definitely recommend this to others. Only draw back is its a little awkward to hold without a handle but I figured it would be when I bought it.

> 3 dayI got this yesterday, and my first practice fire was going in minutes, the rod is easy to hang on to, as well as the striker, it throws down a very large shower of sparks which makes lighting a fire a breeze! I would buy again, but the large size of the rod assures it will last a very long time!
