BNX 16x25x1 MERV 8 Air Filter 6 Pack - MADE IN USA - Electrostatic Pleated Air Conditioner HVAC AC Furnace Filters - Removes Dust, Mold, Pollen, Lint

Of the eight filters I received in this pack, four of them had some sort of damage to the cardboard frame or the pleats. BNX touts a reduction of environmental waste by making their frames one-sided, but that should definitely be taken into consideration when deciding how best to pack & ship multiple filters in a way that ensures they maintain their integrity while in transit, and arrive to the buyer in perfect condition. With that said, these are MERV 8 filters, electrostatically charged, with a MPR of 1000 (surprisingly high), and a FPR of 5. Thats a budget (but adequate) MERV & FPR rating, but Im skeptical of the supposed MPR1000 comparison. MERV is the industry standard, and FPR & MPR are Home Depots & 3Ms brand specific ratings, respectively. These BNX filters have my curiosity piqued with a MPR1000 equivalence (3M rating equivalence to a MERV 11 filter), so I really dont know what to think about the filtration ability of these MERV 8s. Basically, MERV 8 filters are supposed to capture 70% of particles sized 3-10 microns & 20% of particles sized 1-3 microns. MPR1000 means theyre catching 88% of the 3-10; 77% of the 1-3; AND 41% of the .3-1. If they truly filter to this degree, they should be rated between MERV 11 & MERV 12, so Im not sure Im buying the MPR1000 equivalence. Theyre priced in such a way that it makes the most sense to buy larger quantities. I got the eight pack for $60.99, so $7.62 each. Not sure if these are worth the price if the MPR rating is off. MERV 8 filters of this size (20x25x1) are around $5-6 each. Considering the flimsy frame, these seem a little overpriced for what youre getting. They shouldnt be more than $6 each on average. Unless Im wrong about the MPR1000 & they really do filter that well, in which case some documentation would be great, and $7.62 each would be an okay price.

These HVAC filters are very well made. As can be seen in the attached picture, the back of the filter has both cardboard and wire webbing to support and attach the filter to the frame. I have had the filter installed for a little more than two weeks and the brownish dirt from the air in the house is already becoming visible on the filter, so the electrostatic charge appears to be working. My wife and I are not super-sensitive to airborne particles so the MERV 8 rating works fine for us and doesnt add excess resistance to my air handler which should help increase its life. Compared to the name brand equivalent filters in the big hardware stores, these filters provide excellent bang for the buck. Highly recommend the product.

Like most people Im sure, its hard to keep replacing furnace filters front of mind when its only an every three months or so event. And when I do remember, its nice to have a stash already on-hand. This multi-pack of filters certainly fills that bill -- I have two systems, and with 9 in the pack it will cover that need for a year or perhaps more. These are a perfect fit; better in fact than ones I have been using. The listing and packaging indicate the filters are electrostatically charged, which is a definite plus for capturing more dust. Though Im not exactly sure what makes these passive filters electrostatic, I suspect it has to do with the thin wire mesh on side of the filter generating the tiny electrostatic charge as air passes over it. Anyway, at less than $8 apiece, these are quite a bit cheaper than buying them at the big box stores -- probably 30% or more cheaper. And, again, having a lot of them on hand is certainly convenient.

Working as intended. The material looked like they are good quality HVAC AC filters. Better values for larger pack ones. It seems like this manufacturer produces filters from MERV 8 – MERV 16, higher the number, higher the quality, mostly for hospital and laboratory. Ever since my contractor mentioned that some of the high-performance filters could block the airflow, which makes the heater/ac work harder and breakdown sooner, I prefer low to medium range filter.

These are nice filters. USA made. Lots of pleats, which theoretically allows for less restriction than competing filters of the same rating. I personally don’t go above MERV 8 either way because I like as much airflow as possible. Your furnace is supposed to heat the house, not clean it. I ordered the 16x25x1 size and it slide right in. Fit is good, price is fair, and again, made in the US. Will re-order for sure.

I am just learning about MERV ratings and what they mean. This is my understanding: Basically, there is MERV 2 through MERV 20. Most residential buildings need a minimum of a MERV 6. Commercial buildings use MERV 9 or better typically. Hospitals use MERV 13 or better typically. A MERV 8 is supposed to be suitable for residence or industrial workplaces and filters out Mold/spores, dust/dust mites, lint, textile and carpet fibers, and pollen. That is typically what homeowners want. Having this available for this price on Amazon is so convenient for several reasons. Number one: there is nothing more annoying than having to trudge through a home supply store trying to find something like this -- at least in my opinion. Number two: the price on Amazon is just as good or cheaper. Number three: it comes straight to your door.

Peace of mind for the HVAC intake system, cleaner air is a necessity where we live and making sure we have high quality filters to help keep our family safe. These are better than the basic HVAC filters in store, with better design and technology to improve dust, allergen and mold trapping. Love that this set is also affordable and comes in a 5 pack, lasts us for 4-5 months as we change monthly or as needed.

As you can see on the pictures we were is need of a new filter (quite badly) and were happy to try this Electrostatic 20x20x1 MERV 8 air filter replacement. It fits our unit perfectly snug, just as if it was made for it. The electrostatic filtration technology that should allow for industry-leading superior air flow and low air resistance while maintaining the highest grade level of filtration is something that, honestly, we never heard before so we are true first time customers! 3 Days after here is what we observed. Our unit started working much quieter than it always worked before with the traditional filters (we have a 3 year old hybrid system, heat pump with electric back up). I was actually surprised that the claimed superior low air flow resistance with the highest grade level of filtration turned out to be true, at least what you can tell by listening to your 3 year old unit work. It seems to work much less now and move air much easier! This is the first time we tried this type of synthetic electrostatically charged air filter and are quite impressed! For the price at $12.50 a piece, it is really not that much more expensive than the traditional filters in this filtration rating (or even less if you compare the big name stores). But it makes your system breath so much easier which, of course, will reflect in your heating/cooling bill and the life of your HVAC unit! I think we got converted!

The filters came in tact and as described. They seem a little thinner than what we prefer to prevent allergens from being in the air of our home, but we liked that it came in a pack of 5 so we can easily switch them as out as they get full.

These are made well and fit perfectly. Made in the USA is always a great option. A great value for the amount you get in a package. Very comparable to the big name brands. No complaints.
